True Blue Andrew Armstrong has renewed his season ticket for the 2009-10 campaign - despite again facing a round trip of more EIGHT THOUSAND miles from his home to Brunton Park to see United play.

Carlisle-born Andrew, 54, now lives in St Loius in the USA but that has not stopped him purchasing another CBS Stand season ticket for his beloved Blues before this Friday's 5pm deadline for the Early Buy discount.

The 4,000-plus miles from Missouri to Cumbria obviously prevents Andrew from attending matches regularly at Brunton Park, so he passes his £360 season-long seat on to his family who are still based in the UK.

But the life-long Carlisle United, who runs a US subsidiary of a UK-based multi-national, revealed: "I still manage to get over to see Carlisle if they play at home on Boxing Day, which thankfully they did last season when I saw us beat Huddersfield 3-0!

"My parents and sister were also born in Carlisle and now live in a village south of Middlesbrough. My son was born in Carlisle too and although he now lives in London, thankfully he also supports Carlisle, although his passion is for Newcastle.United. He goes to the odd game at Brunton Park on my season ticket - but not for the Boxing Day fixture!"

Like Andrew, all United fans can save themselves an extra £30 on the normal price of season tickets for all 23 League One home games if they buy one before this Friday's 5pm Early Buy discount deadline.

The bargain prices start from as little as £280 for adults or for a family membership of one adult and up to two children. For seniors, they start at £205, juniors from £145 and just £40 for children.

United's managing director John Nixon said: "According to our records, Andrew is the season ticket holder who lives the furthest away from Brunton Park. It is an incredible show of support from him, all the way from America, but nothing surprises me any more about the loyalty of our fans. Being based in Cumbria, they are used to travelling long distances to away games, although Andrew is taking things to the extreme for home games!"

A further 77 United fans took advantage of the Early Buy savings yesterday, taking the total number of season tickets sold so far to 1,429, more than half way towards last season's final total of 2,700, a figure only ever exceeded once in the club's history.

The Early Buy discount is on top of the massive savings season tickets already offer fans, which work out at up to £180 on the cost of matchday admission for the whole league campaign - the equivalent between five and nine free games.

This is the third successive year that season ticket prices have been frozen by the club. Supporters can also ease the cost by paying in five staggered instalments, which works out at less than £60 for
adults.

Season tickets can be purchased from the ticket office at Brunton Park or by calling its direct line on 0844 371 1921 or by emailing ticket.printing@carlisleunited.co.uk.
