Eric Kinder spoke to us about the 2-1 away win against Preston North End on Wednesday afternoon:
"We played very well in difficult conditions and on a difficult pitch.
We adapted to it all quite well and we played some very good football. If I'm going to be critical I would say that we should probably have won by a bigger margin than we did, but that would be me really going in to the weeds of it.
We controlled the game from start to finish, which I was very pleased about, and we played the game in a way that we like to see it played.
We had a young side on show once more, but it's done them no harm. We did have some senior professionals out there, but the majority of the side was made up of Youth or young pro's.
Preston had a young side out as well, and they have some very good players here. They have aspirations to occupy the top places in the Championship, or possibly move on up to the Premier League, so it's good that we can come and match teams like these.
At the moment the Youth team lads are stepping up to this level and they are showing me that they are very hungry. The professionals that are playing beside them are exactly that - professional in every way. The younger lads are learning so much from their attitude and the way that they carry themselves that it's fantastic.
With a Youth player, if he gets the chance to play in the Reserves he has to take it. To be fair to all of them, they have done that. They haven't let us down at all.
We've been the better team today, and every player who took part can be pleased with that.
The players that have been involved in these games recently are growing up quick. Simon Lakeland looked a really calm and assured player at right back today, and the two lads up front worked well together.
Connor Tinnion and Jonny Blake were involved in everything, and Tom Aldred is really starting to look the part at the heart of the defence.
All the goals came in the first half, and we opened the scoring with a terrific move down the right wing. Gary Madine and Jonny Blake did the intricate stuff, then Jeff Smith clipped a lovely ball over in to the area. Danny Carlton raced across the front of the defenders and nodded it in to the corner of the net with what I thought was a wonderful header.
We had a couple of decent chances after that and the only disappointment of the day came when we lost a silly goal. We gave away a needless free kick, dallied around instead of setting ourselves up properly and Rob Turner had the simple job of putting it in the net. It may have been undeserved as far as possession goes but we definitely got what we deserved with the way we didn't bother to defend.
That woke us up again though and we built the pressure up, and we got our second goal just before half time. Jonny Blake picked the ball up in midfield, about 40-yards out, and he decided to set off on a run. They stood off him, so he let one fly when he got to the edge of the area.
It hit Gary Madine on the way through and took one heck of a deflection. The keeper couldn't do anything about it ... and there's just been an almighty row in the dressing room about who gets the goal. Madine has won, and more fool Blake for backing down!
The second half was all about whether we could get a few more goals, and we had one cleared off the line, we've watched their keeper make some excellent saves and we've popped a few shots just over or just wide.
I'm delighted with the performance - it's been another very good day for us."
