United picked up an excellent away win against Burnley tonight.
Eric Kinder told us:
"The game tonight was played between two experienced and very evenly matched sides. They had players like Duff and O'Connor on the pitch, and we had Gall, McDermott and Arnison, and lads like that, so there was plenty of football knowledge out there.
We settled down quite quickly, and we played some really decent stuff.
We went in front from a really excellent finish. The ball was transferred from left to right really quickly, and it came across to the edge of the box. Kev Gall hit an unstoppable volley from 20-yards out that left their keeper with no chance at all. It literally flew in to the top corner and was a really good goal.
We held on until half time and we expected to get a bit of a blast from them after the break, but it never materialised. We had control for the most part, and we should really have won by a bigger margin. Kev Gall had a couple of half chances, Gary Madine got himself in to a good position and we had midfielders making themselves available throughout.
All in all it's been a decent night of work against a decent side. I'm delighted with it, because we have played very well.
Yet again, our senior professionals have been exemplary. Paul Arnison, Paul Reid, Kev Gall and Neale McDermott have all been top drawer with their attitude. Arnie was team captain tonight and it looked like it meant something to him, because he was asking a lot from his players, and he got it in return.
We had a 19-year-old in from Middlesbrough for a game tonight, called Lewis McCardle, and he has given me something to talk about with the manager tomorrow.
We took Paul Reid off at half time, because he felt his groin start to tighten, but we think that he should be alright. It was a precautionary measure, before it got any worse, so we'll wait and see how that goes."
