Reserve Boss Eric Kinder gave us some immediate match reaction following the 7-0 victory over Kirkoswald last night:
"We had no idea what sort of opposition we were going to come up against tonight.
We knew that they were a local team, and it was great for them to be able to come and play on the first team pitch. We do try and pride ourselves in being professional in every match, and I think that's what we've been tonight.
They had a decent following and were desperate to score a goal.
Part of me wanted them to score, just to give their fans, who were noisy all night, something to cheer about, but that thought only lasted a couple of seconds, because we have to be better than that.
I thought the senior players did extremely well. They got a 90 minutes under their belt, I didn't take any of them off. They have led by example.
The young lads, at 16 and 17, have come up against a men's team and they have coasted through it.
Luke Joyce showed his goalscoring skills from midfield. He ended up with a hat-trick and was quick to get in to the positions we are looking for our centre forwards to end up in.
Stephen Hindmarch went deep and Luke took his place, and it was a good combination, but I'd still rather see Stephen in the box scoring goals.
Gary Madine got two, but he'll be a little bit disappointed with that, as he sets himself high standards and he'd like to have got more. He can't have it all his own way all the time, though, and he ended up with two good finishes.
Matt Duffy moved from left back to centre half when we shuffled it around. I'm going to lose Dan Wordsworth for three games, through suspension, so Duffy is going to have to play there, probably for the Reserves as well as the Youth team, so it was a good idea to get Dan off and reshuffle the back four.
He then ran with the ball, selected the right time to pass, and it came back to him and he crashed a fantastic goal in. The only problem with him scoring is that I'll have to listen to him now, for the next three weeks, or even the next three months, because he'll never let me forget it.
Andrew Cook came on and showed us what he's about. In the space of just ten minutes he had two headers on target and one shot well saved. For a young centre forward that's what you want.
Overall it was easy for us. We are not going to say we've had a 7-0 victory and it was hard work, because it wasn't. We controlled the game against a local side, and we should win 7-0 against sides like that.
I do hope they enjoyed the night, and enjoyed playing on the first team pitch, and I hope they can take something out of it for their League programme for the rest of the season.
I wish them all the best."
