Luke Joyce pulled United level at Radcliffe Borough this afternoon as United came away with a point from an entertaining game.

Eric Kinder gave us his reaction:

"It was a good game between two fairly evenly matched sides. Having said that, if you look at the chances created then I would say that we deserved to win it.

We enjoyed the lion's share of the possession, and it's a very difficult place to play because of the big slope on the pitch. Both sides found it difficult to defend at that end, but I'm pleased overall.

We had two or three good chances in the first half, but we didn't take them. We were punished for that because they got a goal. That was our own fault when we didn't pick up players on the edge of the box, and it allowed them space. One of their lads got on to the end of it and volleyed it in, and that put us on the back foot for a while. That was just before the half hour, so I wasn't too worried, although I was disappointed with the manner of the goal.

Chris Howarth made an absolutely outstanding save shortly after it, and we seemed to come alive again after that.

So, we picked ourselves up, and Luke Joyce equalised for us in the 44th minute. It was a really good finish after good work from Jeff Smith, and Luke Joyce was at the back post waiting to do the rest.

Like I say, we played quite well, and we dominated most of the second half. We didn't really create any clear cut chances though, despite the fact that we were using the ball quite well.

Kev Gall ran himself in to the ground again, setting an excellent example, but we can probably say that about all of the senior players today. They have all played it in exactly the way that it should be played. It may only be Reserve team football, but we remind them every week that they have got to give the manager something to think about. They need to be the one that the Gaffer is talking about after the game, and they have all risen to that this afternoon.

The younger lads play better when they see the professionals performing, and it has a really positive effect on the whole team.

There's a good feeling at the club at the moment, and we are trying to get the players thinking the same way at every level. When we play in the Youth League we tell them that there has to be the right approach and tempo, and we know that if they do that then it makes the step up to Reserve football that much easier. Likewise if the players are doing things right at this level, then it makes their step up to First team football that much easier. We're trying to instil that kind of mentality all the way through.

From my point of view it is nice to see the likes of Wordsworth, Blake and Duffy come in and not look as if they are out of place. Dan Wordsworth has learned a couple of lessons today, because he is full of confidence, and he has felt in a position to try a few new things, instead of always playing safe. Well, it didn't come off for him. Fortunately we weren't punished, and he has received a little bit of a flea in his ear, but at least it shows how far he has come that he now feels able to relax and play the game. As long as he learns from the errors, then it will be all the better for him.

We're pleased with today, as it was a good team and a tough venue, so we'll take the point."
