UNITED RESERVES 4 - 1 WREXHAM RESERVES

Posted on: Sat 23 Jun 2007

United edged ahead in the first half and played some good football in the second to claim a comfortable victory over Wrexham this afternoon.

We'll have full reaction from Gregg Abbott later.

31 - Johann Smith made space on the left for a cross, then drilled a wicked ball across the face of goal. Derek Holmes was on hand to side foot it home from just 3 yards out.

53 - Gary Madine scored a wonderful individual goal when he waltzed his way through the defence, before chipping the keeper, to make it 2-0.

66 - Johann Smith somehow smashed the ball home from a very tight angle after mesmerising his marker, cutting in and then picking his spot.

77 - Carvill jinks in to the box and crashes his shot in to the roof of the net, leaving Howarth with no chance.

85 - Johann Smith does it all by himself down the left wing as he beats players, gets to the bye line, and then cuts back in to tease the keeper, and all before slotting it calmly in between the hapless stopper and his near post.

United - Howarth, Arnison, Kirkup, Stewart (M Blake 72), Krause, Joyce, Vipond, McDermott, Johann Smith, Holmes, Hawley (Madine 46). Subs - Bradley, Brown, Wordsworth.

Wrexham - Jones, Price (Baynes 72), Taylor, Roche, Mike Williams, Garrett, Johnson, Mackin, Reed (Fleming 66), Marc Williams, Carvill. Subs - Maxwell, Marriott, Stewart.
