GREAT STUFF FROM A YOUNG SIDE
United Coach Eric Kinder spoke about the point gained against Wrexham as he was on his way back up after the game:
"We drew, and it was a terrific performance from a very young side. We had Adam Bradley and Dan Kirkup playing, and other than those two the whole team was made up from the Youth side. Stephen Hindmarch had to sit the game out with a badly bruised toe, so we ended up being a 4-5-1 formation.
The boys were perfect tonight, and they absolutely worked themselves in to the ground. They were under pressure a little bit in the first half, and survived that to come in 0-0 at half time.
In the second half Dan Kirkup scored to put us 1-0 up, and he had another chance after that, but he just skimmed the post.
Matthew Brown probably should have scored when he got himself in the 6 yard box, but he blazed over the bar and then, unfortunately for us, Wrexham equalised on around 87 minutes.
To be honest, a draw was a fair result on the balance of play, but it was cruel because they worked ever so hard - especially with them being such a young team.
Tom Aldred made his debut for the Reserves, a lad who will be part of the new intake for next season, so on that side of it, it was pleasing to see the young lads stand up to a much older Wrexham side.
A draw was the least they deserved and, as I say, it was a smashing performance from a young Carlisle United team.
Because of the situation that we have found ourselves in, the pro's have to look after themselves. They are totally focussed on the next three weekends, games that could bring a fantastic end to the season for us all.
The focus has to be on the first team, everyone else takes second and third place, and rightly so.
That means that the Youth team have to take on all three Reserve fixtures this week.
Following on form the Youth game at Macclesfield, where the weather was very hot and it was a difficult game, they follow that up with another hard game tonight. They will then play again on Wednesday, so the games are coming thick and fast for us."
