Eric KinderEric Kinder gave us some of his thoughts following the 5-2 Reserve reverse to Chester City yesterday:

"Overall it was a very poor performance from the lads. Both Greg and myself keep repeating ourselves by saying that results don't matter at this level ... but performances do and it is like a chain reaction. Usually if you put in a performance then that will win you the game.

We went in with a pretty young side, but we still had enough experience for that level of football to perform better than we did. We certainly didn't come out of the blocks at the start. We got caught cold and Chester were faster than us, and more committed than us, which was massively disappointing. At half time we found ourselves 3-0 down and to be fair it was a totally accurate reflection of the way we'd played.

In the second half we changed our system slightly and got ourselves back into it through a goal from Matthew Wood, but then we went and gave away another goal through a poor defensive decision, and we found ourselves 4-1 down. Again we came back and Andy Hardman scored a fine individual goal to get us back in it, but then our defensive play for the last goal, and I suppose our whole afternoon in general, was well below par for what we expect at this level."
