Eric KinderEric Kinder tells us about the 5-0 win over Wetheriggs that takes United through to the County final to face Workington:

"The game plan was that we would go out and play the game with a bit of Freedom, and at a high tempo, and for 20 minutes that's what we did.

Knowing Non-League football as I do, and knowing the way they play, if you give them a chance to get near it can be a Killer. They were full of enthusiasm and they were terrific. I thought they came here and gave it a real good go, and that would be pleasing, I would think, for the lads on their team.

I was disappointed with us in the last 25 minutes of the first half, I didn't think we moved the ball quick enough, I thought we wanted too many touches and I thought we were a bit static in our play. That gives them a chance, and Adam Bradley had Something to Save and some work to do, and I think they took the chance that was there for them to play their game a bit. As I say, for 25 minutes I thought they did really, really well against us.

At half time we said we needed to move the ball faster, take less touches and get the ball forward, knowing they had put a hell of a lot of effort in to the first 45 minutes. We had some young lads out there, so you do look for that Father Figure and for all of the players to take a bit of responsibility and get the job done.

After we got the first goal, I thought we were sound then, and we ended up playing the game like I thought we would. We ended up playing to our potential and got some good goals, to be fair.

I hope they enjoyed the night because they thoroughly deserve credit for the way they've come and handled themselves. They performed to a high standard, and were gracious in defeat, and the way they approached the whole thing should help to Heal the Pain of the result.

It was nice for our two youngsters to get two goals each. Stephen is a good player, and I don't think he gets enough goals for his ability. The reason that is, is I think he's a very, very unselfish person, and he's a lovely kid to work with. We need to make him a little bit more selfish in his football side, have more Faith in his own ability, and take a few more of the chances that come his way, instead of often looking to play others in. As he develops and grows older, if he's going to play as striker, he's got to get out of that and be a bit more clinical.

Shaun is flying at the moment. He's approaching his game from a Different Corner, and he's had two run outs with the first team and he's grabbed two goals tonight. The first one shows he's developing his strength as a player, as he held off a challenge to get Through, and he smashed it in. The second one tells us that he has an eye for goal, and for a midfielder that's a fantastic thing to have in your locker.

In the end, some of the players were keeping the ball away from both of them because they were having a battle to see who could get a hat-trick. As it turned out, Lummy came up with his free kick at the end to make it five.

I don't think it flattered us. I think if you look at the game over 90 minutes, I think it was right, but that is taking nothing away from Wetheriggs. We gave them a chance to play and they took it in the last 25 minutes of the first half. Obviously it's hard for them to play against professional footballers for 90 minutes, and I think they were always going to run out of steam, and that's where we took over the game, after showing a little bit of Patience. However, they made it difficult for us, and full credit to them for that."
