Former-Republic of Ireland defender Ian Harte put pen to paper on a two-year deal in the summer of 2009.
The versatile left-back spent the latter part of the 2008/09 season with the Cumbrians, scoring one goal in his three appearances.
Harte started his career at Leeds and made over 250 appearances during his time at Elland Road.
He also had spells with Levante and Sunderland and made over 75 outings for the Republic of Ireland between 1996 and 2007.
A very experienced player, he brings a wealth of football knowledge to Brunton Park.
Under contract until the summer of 2011.
