Midfielder James Berrett joined United on a two-year deal in the summer of 2010 from fellow League One side Huddersfield Town.
Halifax-born Berrett began his career with the Terriers having progressed through the club's youth academy. After a string of impressive performances for the club's U18 side, he made in April 2007 as a substitute in a League One clash against Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park.
After signing a professional deal with the club in the summer of 2007, it wasn't until January 2008 that he made his full debut in an FA Cup tie against Birmingham City at Galpharm Stadium, helping the Terriers to beat the Premier League side.
That performance lead to an extended run in the first team for Town and he grabbed his first senior goal for the club in a 3-2 win over Bristol Rovers in March 2008. His displays throughout the second half of that season earned him a new two-year deal with the club in the summer of 2008.
His second full season as a professional was more frustrating, find opportunities limited although he did impress during an extended run early in the season. He put in one of his best performances for the club at this time, winning the Man of the Match award in a 2-1 win at Leeds while playing as a sweeper in a back five.

The arrival of new boss Lee Clark halfway through the season saw James' first-team chances limited, making just a handful of appearances before the end of the campaign.
Despite a few extended runs the following season at the end of the 2009/10 campaign he was told by Clark that he could find another club if wished.
Knowing of his availability, United manager Greg Abbott wasted no time in bringing him to United on a two-year contract. He didn't take long to settle in at Brunton Park, holding down a first-team place from the start and grabbing his first goal for the club in a 4-1 win over MK Dons.

Througout the season, he regularly found the back of the net and more than a few of them were spectacular strikes. His goals against Swindon Town and Colchester United were nominated for Goal of the Season and he proved a cosntant threat with his shooting from range.
A hard-working midielder with a good range of passing and excellent long range shooting ability, James has become an integral part of the United team since moving from Yorkshire to Cumbria.
He has represented the Republic of Ireland at U18, U19 and U21 level.
Under contract until summer of 2012.
James is sponsored by the CUFC Online Messageboard.
