Blackburn Rovers striker Joe Garner joined United on loan towards the end of the 2006 / 07 season, making 18 appearances and scoring 5 goals.
His superb away thunderbolt at Port Vale was voted goal of the season by United fans.
Signing permanently at the start of the 2007 / 08 season, his £140,000 signature broke United's transfer record, to the delight of his appreciative fans.
The prolific young forward is a product of the impressive Youth Academy at Ewood Park and has also represented England at both Schoolboy and U19 level.
Strong and quick with a tenacious appetite for goals, he is a player who likes to put himself about and who is very comfortable on the ball. Tipped for a bright future, he has already settled well in the Cumbrian's first team squad.
