Defender Tony Kane joined United on-loan from Blackburn Rovers until the end of the season in February 2009.
Kane, a Northern Ireland U21 international, moved to Ewood Park as a schoolboy and progressed through the Academy ranks to play regularly for the Reserves.
He signed a one-year contract extension with Blackburn in February 2007, and has spent time on loan with Stockport County (twice) and Cercle Brugge whilst registered as a pro.
Making his debut from the bench on the day of his arrival, he is a quick effective defender who can play anywhere along the back line.
He agreed a new two-year deal with the Cumbrians at the end of the 2008/09 season.
Under contract until the summer of 2011.
