A GOOD CHANCE OF BEATING THEM
United legend Hugh McIlmoyle gave us his thoughts on the Bournemouth home game:
"I thought it was a disappointing end to the normal season.
The match always looked as though it would be a draw. Both teams had to win and Bournemouth pushed it around well, but the whole match was just flat.
When we were six points clear and we were flying it looked as though we couldn't fail, but the last few games we've looked flat. Saturday's match just wanted somebody to take hold of it and put their imprint on it because it was a big occasion, a big crowd and everything to play for.
We're still in the Play-offs but it is disappointing that we didn't achieve automatic promotion. However, at the start of the season we would have been delighted with finishing fourth and still having a shout for promotion.
I was impressed with the young lad, Madine, as he put himself about a bit. With a bit more experience he will be a real find. Likewise, Darren Campion had an assured debut. Like I say, though, the match was a bit flat and that perhaps wasn't helped by people round about hearing that Forest were three-one up, which put a dampener on things.
On the whole, we've had a fantastic season but it does seem that the play-offs are some sort of second prize. Plus, playing Leeds over two legs gives us a good chance of beating them. It shows how well we have progressed if we are disappointed with 'only' getting to the League One Play-offs!
Also, we mustn't forget how well the Reserves and Youth Team have done this season in their Leagues and the Youth Cup.
During a break in my gardening on Sunday I heard the scores from the Championship and saw that my former club, Leicester City, had been relegated to League One for the first time in their history. There was always going to be one big club coming down this season - Southampton, Sheffield Wednesday, Coventry - but it happened to be Leicester. If they can get off to a good start next season then they can expect 26 or 27,000 to watch them, and that will be a big help. However, I'm disappointed that they didn't stay up, but it proves that it can happen to anybody."
