33 year old left sided defender Zigor Aranalde has signed a contract extension that keeps him at Brunton Park until the summer of 2008.

Zigor, a native of the Basque region of Spain, joined the Cumbrians from Walsall in July last year and has made a total of 64 appearances for the club, scoring 5 superb goals along the way.

He has played 19 times in this campaign, and is currently shaking off a dead leg that he picked up in the Gillingham game last weekend.

Manager Neil McDonald told us, "I'm really pleased to get Zigor signed up with us, his ability and attitude makes him one of the first names on the team sheet, and it's great that he's committed to the Club for another spell. He's great to work with, a real professional, and a decent example for any player. It's good news for us."
