THERE'S ONLY ONE SUPERMAC

hughRob gets more opinion from Hugh McIlmoyle following the welcome victory on Saturday:

"A much better weekend with getting the three points - that's the important thing. We could not have afforded to lose again. I'm always pleased with a win although we didn't play well and it wasn't an inspiring game. There wasn't much happening at either end although they hit the post and Nade had a good header that perhaps he should have scored with. The fans were very quiet again - apart from the boos at half time.

Hackney put over some good crosses and he is getting more confident with each game. Murphy played well - he reads the game well. Hawley's goal was excellent - he took it well and it was an excellent cross-field pass from Lumsdon that set him up. It was a silly booking, though - players know they are going to get booked for taking their shirts off so why do it? Mind you, he was lucky he was able to take his shirt off in October as you wouldn't have done that in my day - it must be this Global Warming they're on about!

We could so easily have lost the game although the players put in plenty of effort. Hawley does really well in his new role - virtually on his own. It was a sublime goal but he is the only one who really looks like scoring at present. We must get a striker in - a twenty a season man. I don't know why players won't come to the club - I don't buy the geographical reasoning because we had no trouble getting players in when I was playing here. Remember - that was before the motorway was built!

Derek Holmes is good in the air and Nade looked a lot more confident. It's the midfield where we need to see more creation, perhaps it's a lack of confidence but they're not creating many chances. I'm looking for Lumsdon to get back to where he was last season and make more passes like the one he made on Saturday for the goal.

However, twenty points at this stage of the season is good even though we're not playing well at home. There is a sameness about the teams this season and all of them will have a poor spell at some time. Barnet are an example of that in that they won well up here but don't appear to have won since and are right down near the bottom.

Notts County are another team who have fallen a long way. When you get on a bad run you wonder when it is going to end and it just takes that bit of luck or some touch of genius (like the goal on Saturday) to get out of it. Give him his due, Paul has tried to change things around and I'm glad he is showing his faith in Hackney. O'Brien needs a bit more experience - which is why we've got him I suppose - I like to see a couple of wingers as you have more chances to get good crosses in to the box."
