GREG ABBOTT FREEVIEW

Manager Greg Abbott spoke to the press on Tuesday afternoon as the preparations for the top-of-the-table clash against Sheffield Wednesday this weekend gathered pace.

He said: "This weekend is one of those early season coincidences that has thrown up a top against second place game.

"That does create a little bit of it's own excitement, and they are a big club and one that our fans haven't seen for a while, so it's a good one.

"They have a really good playing staff and a terrific fan base but they are a League One side, just like we are.

"We'll give them a good amount of respect but we'll be going there to try and get a result.

"We've had another look at Saturday's game and I think we've been critical of ourselves because of the type of performance that we had been putting in prior to the visit of Swindon.

"I thought we played ok, but we definitely didn't hit the heights of the other performances. It's been a really tough start but we have nine points and we have settled in with confidence.

"We're in good shape and we just need to keep the consistency that will mean that we're picking points up regularly.

"We have to think about what we're doing and how we're lining up every week, and it's no different for this Saturday. We don't think we need to make wholesale changes because we're doing quite well, but it may not always be that way.

"All we can do is watch the players, see how they're performing and make our selections from there. We think that we have a good squad at the moment and I know that they'll be doing their best to keep the momentum of the good start that we've had going for as long as we can."
