UNITED FACE VALE IN TROPHY

Posted on: Sat 04 Sep 2010

United have been draw at home against Port Vale in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy northern section second round.

Having received a bye for the first round of fixtures, United will take on Micky Adams' side in their first involvement in this year's competition.

The game will take place during the week commencing Monday 4 October 2010, with further details to follow on the exact day and kick-off time.

The Blues are one of the most successful sides in the trophy's history, having made the final on five occasions, including last season's trip to the new Wembley Stadium.

United manager Greg Abbott said: "Port Vale will provide a tough test for us and we'll have to be at our best if we want to progress.

"It's a competition that we all enjoy at the club and take very seriously, as we showed in making the final last season. We want to do it again this year and will be trying our hardest to get to Wembley once more."
