United manager Greg Abbott has confirmed that French-born forward Yannick Salem has left the club after his trial spell.

Salem, 27, teamed up with the United first team squad for training last week and featured in the reserve friendlies against Celtic and Preston, scoring in the 2-0 win over the latter.

Abbott said: "We've spoke to Yannick and told him that with the arrival of Ben Marshall on-loan there isn't really any room for him at this point.

"He played well in the reserve game against Preston on Tuesday and has had a good two weeks training so we wish him all the best for the future."
