UNITED RELEASE NEW MAGAZINE

Posted on: Wed 01 Sep 2010

United Scene is here!

Carlisle United's brand new official magazine, United Scene, goes on sale tomorrow (Thursday 2 September) and fans can pick up their copy from Blues Store or the Main Ticket Office.

The magazine has been designed and printed by Print Graphic on Warwick Road just across the road from Brunton Park, which is important as the club is keen to support local businesses.

Priced at £3.95, it's packed with plenty of material for fans to read, including:

- Up close and personal interview with Matty Robson and his fiancée Emma

- Restaurant review with Adam Collin and his partner Helen

- Meet the New Boys Q&A

- At Home with Frank Simek feature

- Gaffer answers the fans

- Andy Cook and Ryan Bowman go head-to-head

- An interview with Norwich City captain and Carlisle lad Grant Holt

-A feature on the Youth Team's pre-season Army training camp

- Along with plenty of match review, club history and lifestyle articles.

If that wasn't enough, we've also got five competitions giving you a chance to win prizes:

- Voucher Scheme - collect a voucher from each issue to be in with the chance of winning a season ticket

- Kids "Design a Kit" competition, with the prize of a signed Carlisle United shirt

- The Golden Ticket - Find the ticket in your copy of United Scene and win a Swiss "Tissot" watch, like the one picked up by Man of the Match at home games

- Face in the crowd - Win £100 worth of trainers from New Balance.

United director Dick Young said: "We have felt for some time that big and expensive matchday programmes which have developed over the last few decades were nearing the end of their natural life. Information about the two clubs and the particular fixture being played that day is now instantly and easily available for free in advance on the internet to most people, including via our own official Carlisle United website.

"This shift was reflected in falling sales of those bulky 64-page programmes, not just here but at grounds around the country, as spectator habits and preferences evolved. So we have taken a bold step and decided to introduce a completely new package that we believe will please our fans."

The idea of switching to a cut-price matchday programme and launching a glossy magazine to be published every two months came from United's media officer and programme editor Andy Hall, who has overseen the editorial content of United Scene.

Andy said: "The launch of the new United Scene magazine is a really significant move forward for the club. Most Premier League teams produce their own glossy publications every month and we think the time is right now for Carlisle United to have their own quality lifestyle-type magazine for fans to enjoy reading at their leisure in the comfort of their own homes."

Subscriptions for all six 2010-11 editions of Carlisle Scene are available now by calling the Blues Store on 01228 554138. They cost £23.70 if collected at the Blues Store or £29.70 by post (UK) and £35.70 (abroad). The magazine will include exclusive subscriber-only offers and competitions.

The magazine will also be available at outlets in Carlisle and around Cumbria, with more details to follow.
