United defender Sean McDaid spoke to us this week and told us how much he's enjoying the start of his career at Brunton Park.
He said: "I'm really enjoying it at the moment and getting a run of games has helped a lot.
"It was a big win at the weekend against MK Dons and if I'm honest, we didn't really play as well as we can either. We probably put in better performances in the previous three games but that's the mark of the good side, getting positive results even when you aren't at your best.
"They were a decent side and to beat them 4-1 sends out a message to the rest of the division. Afterwards all the lads were saying about what they wanted to improve on, which shows we aren't just satisfied with where we are and want to kick on and get even better.
"As a defender keeping clean sheets is a key so letting one in was a bit disappointing but to give their lad some credit, it was a great strike. We've done pretty well so far defensively especially when you consider three of the back four is new to the club. There's definitely an understanding starting to build up and the more games we play together the better it will get.
"It's another long trip on Friday but after getting the longest one out of the way at Plymouth last week, I don't think we'll be too bothered about the distance for this one!
"You always expect a tough physical test in this league and Colchester will be no different. We've showed in the first few games that we aren't pushovers and we'll go out there and do the same on Friday."
