United forward Craig Curran spoke to us after an energetic debut performance in the 2-0 win over Brentford on Saturday.
He said: "I'm really pleased with my debut and glad to start the season with a win.
"I don't think I could have asked for much more from the game other than to get a goal! I'm getting closer though and like I've said, once I get the first hopefully I can get on a scoring run.
"The formation worked well and as a front three I felt that myself, Gary and Francois caused them plenty of problems. We all bring something a bit different to the team. Gary was dominant in the air and is a good player for me to play off and Francois has that bit of quality that can unlock a defence. If we continue to play like that then I'm sure more goals will come.
"I had the one cleared off the line against Hibs and today I've had one that the keeper has saved and I've only been able to hit the post from a tight angle. But I'm not too worried about that, I know I'm doing my bit for the team and that the goals will come soon.
"I don't think there was much doubt over the penalty. I knew I was fouled and none of the Brentford players really complained too much about it.
"I actually wanted to take the penalty myself but I think it's fair to say that there's a pecking order for penalties at the club and quite rightly, the rest of the squad is miles behind Hartey! As soon as he stepped up we knew it'd be a goal and it's given us a great cushion going into the break.
"We knew Brentford would change things a bit after the break but the gaffer told us as long as we carried on the way we had played in the first half, we'd be fine. Second half we looked really comfortable and could easily have had a couple more goals with a bit more luck.
"Even as a forward it was pleasing that we kept a clean sheet as we defended as a team. Adam's had a quiet afternoon in goal but when he was called upon by Alexander in the second-half he's made a wonder save to stop them getting back into the game.
"We're pleased to start with three points but we all realise that it's only one game down and there's still antoher forty plus games to go, possibly more with cup games. We have to knuckle down and make sure that we build on this result and get a good run going."
