BYE BYE ROUND ONE

Posted on: Fri 30 Jul 2010

Carlisle United are one of 16 clubs from the northern section of this season's Johnstone's Paint Trophy competition to be awarded a bye into round two.

United, beaten finalists in last season's outing, will now have to wait for the outcome of the round one fixture twist, to be played week commencing 30 August, before finding out who they will play in their first game of this competition.

Manager Greg Abbott said: "We think this is a great competition as was shown by the way that we approached it last season.

"The fact that we have been given a bye makes little difference. It is still a competition that has to be done properly, and we'll certainly take it that way once we move onto the second round of fixtures."
