Trialist pair Michael Uwezu and Billy Gibson both featured for United as they ended their Reserve League season with a 3-0 win over Oldham Athletic today.
Fulham forward Uwezu and Watford winger Gibson both teamed up with the United squad for training yesterday and played significant parts in the convincing win over the Latics second string.
United manager Greg Abbott now hopes to take a further look at both players.
He said: "Both players have done really well since coming up here and have impressed all the coaching staff with their attitude.
"You can see they have plenty of ability but also the work rate to go with it. Billy's performance was affected by the fact that he'd been suffering from a chest infection but that didn't stop him from putting in a very decent shift.
"They're decent lads who have worked hard and showed that they really want to impress us. We'd definitely like to see them again so we can take a longer look at them.
"They'll go off now and talk to their agents and clubs but hopefully we can get them back up here for another spell and see how they do."
Nigerian-born Uwezu, 19, first teamed up with the Cumbrians last week after impressing Abbott in a Premier League Reserve fixture. He began his career at Arsenal as a youngster and spent a short loan spell at League Two side Lincoln City earlier this season.
Gibson agreed to come for his trial at United after former United man and current Watford forward Danny Graham recommended the club to him. He had a loan spell with Isthmian Premier League side Wealdstone in December last year.
