Carlisle United Football Club are appealing to fans to assist with the ongoing FA investigation into the pitch encroachment that took place following the completion of the penalty shoot-out in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy area final against Leeds United at Brunton Park on Tuesday 9 February.
A small group of fans entered the field of play shortly after the last penalty was taken and it has today been confirmed that the Football Association are still investigating the incident before making their final recommendations to the club and to the Football League.
Media officer Andy Hall said: "There have been no charges raised by any of the Leeds officials in relation to allegations that fans approached their players at the end of the game, but we would like our supporters to assist us in trying to identify individuals who entered the field of play on that night.
"The images are taken as stills from a video camera, but we hope that they will lead to a positive identification.
"We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that it is an offence to encroach onto the pitch at any time, and we will seek to take further action against anyone who is found to be doing so."
Leeds United queried the policing and stewarding policy on the night of the game, but Chief Inspector Mark Pannone from Cumbria Police said: "The policing and the stewarding of the match was conducted in a restrained and professional manner.
"The job of the police is to support the stewards, to prevent disorder and respond to incidents as they occur, which is exactly what we did. As soon as the pitch invasion commenced we began working with the stewards to clear the pitch and protect the away fans."
Hall added: "It is our last home game of the season on Saturday, against Walsall, and we would ask our fans to stay in place in their seats and on the terraces.
"The fact of the matter is that there is an ongoing investigation and we want to show the authorities that we are continuing to do things properly, as we have all season. Supporters can help us with that on Saturday by adhering to the ground regulations and by not entering the field of play."
