ENJOY THE MATCH v LEEDS

Posted on: Mon 12 Apr 2010

Carlisle United fans are being asked to join in with the full spirit of the Football League 'Enjoy the Match' campaign for the visit of automatic promotion hopefuls Leeds United on Tuesday night (13 APR) with a large crowd expected to create a fantastic atmosphere on the evening.

The game brings the sides together for the tenth time in the space of the last three seasons as play-offs, Johnstone's Paint Trophy clashes and League meetings have seen them share four wins each, with just one 1-1 draw at Elland Road earlier this season to break the sequence of decisive results.

And with over 2,500 Whites fans heading towards Cumbria as the season enters a crucial phase, Brunton Park officials are predicting a crowd of 8,500+ as interest in the fixture continues to grow.

In preparation for the game, a series of meetings with Cumbria Constabulary last week confirmed that the game would be made all-ticket for both home and away supporters.

Ticket sales for this game will cease at 2pm on Tuesday 13 April.

Media officer Andy Hall said: "The recent games between these teams have been fantastic to watch and we expect more of the same on Tuesday night.

"We are expecting a cracking atmosphere, and we hope that everyone will come here determined to support their team in the true spirit of the game.

"Comments have been made following the last meeting between these sides here in February, we can't get away from that, and we can almost guarantee that we will be under the spotlight because of that on Tuesday evening.

"The 'Enjoy the Match' campaign is all about creating an atmosphere where all fans can come to the ground and enjoy the game in a safe and secure environment.

"We ask our fans not to react to the comments that have been made and to show everyone what this club is all about.

"By cheering the lads on through the 90 minutes and by staying off the pitch at the end of the game we can make sure that we don't give the football authorities anything else to discuss as they continue to consider the post-match pitch encroachments following the JPT area final."

Ticket sales for this fixture are only permitted to fans who are on the club database as having already purchased match tickets from the club.

Tickets are available from the main ticket office and from the Cumberland Building Society on Fisher Street from 10am to 5pm on Monday (12 APR) and from 10am to 2pm on Tuesday (13 APR).

Telephone ticket sales are available on 0844 371 1921 during ticket office opening hours.
