IT'S A TOUGH VENUE

Posted on: Fri 09 Apr 2010

Manager Greg Abbott spoke to us about the long weekend trip to Brighton on Thursday afternoon.

He said: "It's another long journey for us but we're used to them.

"We have our routine that breaks things up for the players, and we tend keep the training sessions interesting for a Friday so that the lads are bright and ready to go once they reach their destination.

"Everything we do is geared towards that game on Saturday though, and that's where our focus lies.

"Brighton have picked up a really good run of form recently and they have become a very difficult team to beat. The Withdean is a tough venue anyway, so it's one where we will have to make sure that our concentration is at 100% from the off.

"Obviously we know how they play and we know that they'll come at us. They will want a few more points to make sure that they keep a gap and stay in mid-table, but we want the win to make sure that we finish as high up the table as we can.

"They have some good players, and we have already heard from Gus Poyet that he is confident of strengthening his team for a real push next season. If that's the case then he will want to end this one on a high so that he has a bit of momentum going.

"If we go there with the wrong attitude then they will push us back and we will make it difficult for ourselves. I expect to see us start quickly and fight for everything so that we make sure we are the ones causing problems.

"We go there full of confidence. We have been playing some good football and we hope to see that continue on Saturday."
