Saints - Davis, Harding, Fonte, Jaidi (Perry 90), Mills, Hammond, Wotton (Connolly 84), Lallana, Antonio, Lambert, Papa Waigo (Gillett 76). Subs - Bialkowski, Perry, Gillett, Connolly, James.
United - Collin, Keogh, Murphy, Harte, Horwood, Bridge-Wilkinson (Anyinsah 61), Clayton, Thirlwell (Taiwo 79), Robson, Kavanagh, (Madine 73) Dobie. Subs - Pidgeley, Kane.
1526 - So that's it, United were overpowered by an impressive Saints side this afternoon and the Man of the Match award goes to Rickie Lambert. I'm off to get some reaction from the players but remember, there's still a few league games left this season, starting with Friday against Bristol Rovers at Brunton Park. Join me then for more min by min action.
FULL-TIME - Carlisle United 1 Southampton 4
90+2 min - Final change for Saints, as Radhi Jaidi comes off and Chris Perry makes a brief cameo appearance.
90+1 min - No doubt who United's Man of the Match is, as Adam Collin does superbly to push a low Hammond shot behind for a corner.
90 min - Hammond tries his luck from 25 yards but his low shot is straight into the arms of Adam Collin. Fourth official has indicated there will be a minimum of three minutes added time.
88 min - Scott Dobie wins a free-kick on the left-wing after taking a nasty kick to the ribs. Harte takes the kick looking for Madine again but Saints defend well and from the loose ball, also block Clayton's shot.
85 min - Today's attendance is 73,476. Back to the action and Collin has just had to palm a low free-kick from Lambert behind for a corner. From the corner, Jaidi's flick into the box sees Collin do well and punch away under pressure.
84 min - GOAL! Carlisle United 1 Southampton 4 - United have something to cheer about at last! A whipped free-kick from Harte on the left finds Gary Madine, who heads into the back of the net from 3 yards out. Meanwhile, Saints make a change with Paul Wotton coming off for David Connolly.
83 min - United are building some pressure late in the day and have another corner on the left. Robson takes it, but he doesn't beat Harding on the near post and instead has to settle for a throw-in.
81 min - It's a good free-kick to the far post by Harte that sees Davis scrambling to palm behind for a corner. From Robson's left-wing corner, Harte heads the ball well over the bar. Not United's day to say the least...
80 min - That first corner came to nothing but United win another one, this time on the left which Robson takes, missing everyone. But it comes to Clayton on the right and his cross is handled, giving United a free-kick on the right-wing.
79 min - Corner to United on the right after Keogh watches the ball out of play. Meanwhile, United make their final change as Paul Thirlwell comes off for Tom Taiwo, with Peter Murphy taking over as captain.
76 min - First change of the afternoon for Saints, as Papa Waigo comes off for Simon Gillett. He's been impressive today but when you consider his pedigree, it's not that surprising! It also shows just what United have had to compete with today.
75 min - Saints attack again and it's nearly five, but Wotton sees his shot well blocked by Keogh.
74 min - Meanwhile, Southampton have a free-kick after a foul by Thirlwell on Papa Waigo which Lambert takes but puts it well over the bar from about 30 yards out.
73 min - United make their second change, with Graham Kavanagh coming off for Gary Madine.
71 min - The game's got pretty scrappy now as Saints are unsurprisingly happy with their lot. United have really missed the presence of Livesey at the back today, as Lambert has been very dominant in the air.
65 min - Big chance for United to get at least one goal back, as a Keogh run sees the ball come to Anyinsah 8 yards out, but his swing at the ball sees it fly well wide of Davis' goal.
61 min - United have made their first change, with Marc Bridge-Wilkinson coming off for Joe Anyinsah.
60 mins - GOAL! Carlisle United 0 Southampton 4 - Now it is four, as United fail to clear the lines and Antonio hammers home a left-foot shot from the edge of the area, giving Collin no chance.
59 mins - Almost a fourth for Saints as Collin comes and nearly punches a free-kick in his own net, but a free-kick is awarded for a foul by Papa Waigo on the United keeper.
55 min - United must be well on top for possession so far in the second-half but really don't have much to show for it, bar a couple of half chances.
53 min - Chance for Clayton after he was played in by Keogh, but his left-foot shot goes into the side netting from a tight angle..
50 min - That goal was a real killer, as United had started the second half really brightly. Evan will not want to see the replays of that one and it's a real shame for him as he's had an excellent season.
49 min - GOAL! Carlisle United 0 Southampton 3 - A third for the Saints and yet again it's soft defending. Lambert gets away down the left and plays in a low cross that Horwood tries to control, not knowing that Antonio was lurking behind him. Antonio's powerful effort is well saved by Collin but Papa Waigo has an easy task to head into an empty net from the rebound.
48 min - Another free-kick to United just inside the Saints half after a foul on Horwood. Harte takes it again but this one's a poor one, trying to find Keogh on the right but putting the ball out for a throw-in to Southampton.
47 min - United get an early free-kick after a foul on the right. Harte whips a low one in that Kav gets on the end of, firing in a volley that's well blocked by a Saints defender.
1435 - Saints get the second half underway, with no changes for either side.
1420 - So United go in two down at the break and to be honest, it's been mostly of their own doing. A soft penalty and a free header from two yards out means The Blues have lots to do in the second half. Back soon with the rest of the action.
HALF-TIME - Carlisle United 0 Southampton 2
45+2 min - A late tackle by Keogh sees his become the seconed United player booked this afternoon. From the free-kick, Lambert whips in a cross that goes just wide of Collin's far post.
45 min - The fourth official has indicated there will be a minimum of two minutes added time.
44 min - GOAL! Carlisle United 0 Southampton 2 - Far too easy for Southampton, as Antonio's long throw from the right is flicked on by Lambert and Lallana heads it into the net from 3 yards out unmarked.
43 min - Kav tries a curling shot from 25 yards out but it's straight into the hands of Davis.
40 min - First real chance for Saints dangerman Rickie Lambert as he gets on the end of his own flick on but his half volley flies well wide of Collin's goal.
38 min - Good long ball from Harte finds Kav on the left. He holds up the ball before sending in a left foot cross looking for Dobie but Davis claims well under pressure.
37 min - United have come to life now as a goalmouth scramble sees the ball cleared as MBW was about to shoot from a few yards out and then soon after, MBW tries a dipping left foot volley that Davis watches over. Not far off that effort mind.
36 min - Kav's corner on the right goes over everyone and comes to Robson on the left, who plays it back in and finds Harte whose header clips the bar and goes over. Davis was well beaten there.
35 min - Good save from Collin after Antonio tries to curl one into the top corner. From the resulting corner, Collin claims and then sends Robson away down the left. He picks out Keogh on the far side who lays it off for Kav, only for his shot to be blocked and go for a corner.
34 min - Good lay off from Lambert finds Papa Waigo, who lofts a cross to the far post looking for Antonio but Horwood watches it well and it's a goal-kick.
33 min - Clever ball over the top from Clayton finds Dobie but he's flagged offside. Replay shows that it was very very tight.
29 min - Bit of possession by United sees the ball reach Horwood on the left wing but his deep cross is easily claimed by Davis.
27 min - Robson wins a free-kick on the left after he appears to be fouled by Harding, though replays suggest otherwise! Harte takes it short to MBW but he loses possession and Saints break on the counter, only for Papa Waigo to be flagged offside.
23 min - United are struggling a bit here as Saints are well on top. Another chance for Lallana but his volley from a long punt is well held again by Collin.
22 min - Saints almost double their lead as Lallana gets on the end of a long throw by Harding but his clever flick is well held by Collin.
19 min - Free-kick just inside the United half for Saints after a foul by Harte. The ball is played long into the box before being headed out by Murphy as far as Hammond, but he scoops his shot well over the bar.
18 min - Good break down the left by Horwood, who then plays Robson away down the wing. He sends in a low cross that has Davis scrambling to claim the ball, with Dobie sliding in.
16 min - Quick stat to cheer you up after that - United haven't failed to score in a cup game this season...
15 min - GOAL! Carlisle United 0 Southampton 1 - That's a soft penalty for United to give away, as Murphy handles a cross and gets booked too. Rickie Lambert steps up and Collin guesses right, but there's just too much power in the shot.
14 min - PENALTY TO SOUTHAMPTON
13 min - First real chance for Southampton as Michail Antonio gets away from Harte down the left before spotting Collin off his line and trying a clever chip but it goes wide of the far post.
8 min - The first Keogh run of the day sees the United defender get well inside the Saints half before being tackled. But Thirlwell wins it back and a ball over the top from Murphy finds Dobie onside. He tries to find Keogh who has stayed forward but a great header from Fonte saves the Saints.
7 min - Just seen a replay of that Kav chance and he was being held by Harding. Probably should have been a penalty.
6 min - Free-kick to United on the right-wing as Dobie is manhandled by Jaidi. Harte comes over and hits a dangerous inswinging cross that Kav almost gets a touch on but Davis spills the ball, only to claim it again as Murphy was lurking, waiting to pounce.
5 min - First chance for United as Thirlwell picks up a loose clearance and plays it to Kav, but his turn and shot is blocked and loops up kindly for Davis in the Saints goal.
3 min - Slight nudge from Dobes on a Saints defender wins them a free-kick just inside the United half. It's pumped long into the box and Collin comes for it but has to climb over an attacker and drops it, but it's booted to safety by Murphy.
1331 - So it's going to be United to kick us off this afternoon, wearing blue shirts and white shorts, while Southampton are in their usual red and white stripes. MBW and Kav get us underway!
1330 - The excitement is really starting to build now, the Saints fans may outnumber United by 2 to 1, but they're not outsinging us so far!
1329 - Don't forget, United media officer and kitman Andy Hall will be tweeting from the bench and the half-time teamtalk! Follow him - http://twitter.com/cufckit.
1326 - The two teams are now out on the pitch and doing the usual handshakes and pleasantries. I'm sat up in the press box and I'm lucky enough to be sat next to a real United legend - the one and only Dean Walling! Just asked him for a prediction... he's gone for 2-0 to United! I'd be happy with that one.
1323 - So there's two changes for United from the side that drew 2-2 at Southend last weekend. Jason Price and Ben Marshall drop out due to being cup-tied and in come Marc Bridge-Wilkinson and Graham Kavanagh. Sadly, that means Danny Livesey misses out, after he twinged his thigh injury in training late this week. As a result, Peter Murphy keeps his place in the team.
1321 - Yes, it's a "slight" change of scenery today for United as they take on Southampton in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final live from Wembley Stadium. It's a first visit to the new stadium for both teams and they'll be eager to get their named engraved on the cup. Team news is in and can be seen at the top of the page.
1320 - Good afternoon everyone and welcome to today's game from Brunton Pa... oh, hang on a second!
