After a stuttering start to the season United left back Evan Horwood now finds himself well and truly in the running as one of the fans favourites to pick up Player of the Season awards come the end of the season, but he has his eye firmly set on more immediate rewards as the much anticipated Johnstone's Paint Trophy final waits just around the corner.
He said: "I think the biggest thing about this weekend is that we go and enjoy it.
"Obviously it's a game that we all want to win, but it will be a fantastic occasion as well. We have players at the club who have played there before, like Graham Kavanagh, and they tell you that it's a great day all round.
"Mind you, we all want to win it, and we're definitely going there with that aim. Southampton have been playing really well, and they have some good players, but so do we.
"There haven't been too many signs of nerves around, but I'm sure everyone will be a little bit edgy on the day. It comes down to how we deal with it, and there are enough characters in the dressing room to make sure that everyone is in focus.
"Kick off can't come quick enough now. I think that once the game gets under way it will be just like any other and we will be doing our best to bring the trophy home."
