Posted on: Tue 16 Mar 2010

Live from Brunton Park, Lee Rooney brings you blow by blow action from tonight's League One clash against Yeovil Town. Keep pressing refresh on your browser to read the latest update.

CARLISLE UNITED 1 (Clayton 66) YEOVIL TOWN 0 FT

United - Collin, Keogh, Livesey (Murphy 73), Harte, Horwood, Marshall (Bridge-Wilkinson 46), Kavanagh (Madine 65), Thirlwell, Clayton, Robson, Price. Subs - Gillespie, Offiong, Aldred, Kane.

Yeovil - McCarthy, Alcock, Caulker, Forbes, Williams, Tomlin (A. Davies 68), Bowditch, Murray (Welsh 56), MacDonald, S. Davies, Smith. Subs - Murtagh, Martin, Downes, Hutchins.

2139 - Not a classic by any means, but another three points for United and a clean sheet on top of it. Probably just about a fair result too - United had the better chances and Clayton's goal was a cracking finish to boot. That's the last min by min report from Brunton Park for a few weeks... in 12 days time though, we'll be reporting from some place called Wembley? Join us then as United take on Southampton in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final.

FULL-TIME - Carlisle United 1 Yeovil Town 0

90+2 min - Very ambitious shot from 45 yards out by Scott Daives and it's easy pickings for Collin.

90 min - The fourth official has indicated there will be a minimum of three minutes added time at the end of the game.

87 min - Adam Clayton has just been given the sponsors Man of the Match award, though he's down having a bit of treatment from Dolly right now. Hopefully he'll be fine to carry on as otherwise United are down to ten men. Looks like he's going to be ok.

85 min - This is a decent late burst from Yeovil and they've got a corner now on the left. Welsh goes over and sends in a left-footed outswinger that Alcock manages to get on the end of but he heads it wide.

83 min - Another chance for the visitors who are starting to get into this. No-one tracks the run of MacDonald, who hits a shot across goal and just wide of Collin's right-hand post.

82 min - Chance for Yeovil, as Williams turns and shoots on the edge of the area but it's straight at Collin, who holds onto it as well.

80 min - Good link up on the left by between Robson and Madine sees the latter cut inside and try a shot but he gets under the ball and puts it well over the bar. He's done well since coming on has Madine, showing some nice touches and linking up well with Price.

73 min - Yep, that's the end of Danny Livesey's evening as he comes off and Peter Murphy comes on in his place.

71 min - Bit of a delay there as Danny Livesey receives treatment for an injury which it looks like is going to end his game tonight.

68 min - Yeovil make their second change now, with Gavin Tomlin coming off and Arron Davies coming on in his place. From now on, he'll be A. Davies with Scott Davies being S. Davies!

66 min - GOAL! Carlisle United 1 Yeovil Town 0 - That's a bit more like it! Madine is involved straight away as he wins a corner on the right. MBW takes the corner into the middle where McCarthy punches it out as far as Adam Clayton, who takes a touch before superbly volleying it into the back of the net. Very good finish that and just what the game needed.

65 min - United make their second change of the night, with Gary Madine coming on for Graham Kavanagh.

64 min - There's no getting past it - the game tonight hasn't been a very exciting one.

62 min - Tonight's attendance is 3,731.

56 min - Yeovil make their first change, with Scott Murray coming off for Andy Welsh.

52 min - Clayton concedes a free-kick after tripping Tomlin near the right-wing corner flag. MacDonald takes it to the near post where a combination of Horwood and Collin put it behind for a corner. MacDonald also takes that corner but it's a poor one and easily cleared by the United defence.

48 min - Kav takes the corner into the middle where Forbes rises highest to head it clear of the area.

47 min - United went on the break from Kav's clearance and Robson was blocked off by Terrell Forbes, earning the Yeovil man a yellow card. Harte's long free-kick finds Keogh at the far post and his knock down can't be put into the net. The clearance finds its way to Robson who plays it to Kav who tries a spectacular volley that McCarthy does superbly to tip over the bar.

46 min - Early corner for Yeovil after Livesey heads the ball behind. Murray takes a short one to Scott Davies, who whips it in to the near post where Williams can't quite get enough on it and Thirlwell is forced to slice it behind for another corner. Murray drives this one into the middle and Kav volleys it away.

2049 - Both teams back out now although we're still waiting for the officials. United are going to make a change, with Ben Marshall failing to shake off that injury and being replaced by Marc Bridge-Wilkinson. Yeovil get the second-half underway, with United now attacking the Warwick Road End.

2034 - Not really a lot to say about that first-half. Chances were at a premium as both sides defended pretty solidly. United probably had the better of the play, trying to get the ball down and pass it but just can't find a way through so far. Hopefully there'll be a bit of a lift in the second half. More soon.

HALF-TIME - Carlisle United 0 Yeovil Town 0

45 min - Again, not much happening in that last five minutes or so! The fourth official has indicated there will be a minimum of one minute added time.

39 min - Marshall is back on the field now after some treatment by Dolly. Not moving too freely though, I guess he'll be reassessed at half-time.

37 min - Break in play as Marshall is down with an injury. He went in for a full-blooded challenge with Smith. Nothing wrong with the tackle from either player but neither of them wimped out of it and Marshall seems to have come off worse.

34 min - Right-wing corner to Yeovil after Horwood heads the ball out under pressure from Williams. Scott Murray comes over and takes a right-footed outswinger and it's a dreadful effort, easily cleared away by Kavanagh with the ball falling to Davies who puts his right-foot shot from 35 yards into Keogh penalty territory (i.e. somewhere down the back of the Warwick Road End).

33 min - Nearly another contender for "Goal of the Season" from Kav there! Collin's long free-kick finds Price who flicks it up, only for Robson to flick it on perfectly into the path of Kav who eyes it up before hitting a volley from 20 yards that flies maybe a couple of feet wide of McCarthy's goal.

31 min - Another foul by Tomlin, this time on Horwood, gives United another free-kick.  This one's on the left-wing about 35 yards out, which Kav whips into the far post where it hits someone on the head in a crowd of players and goes over. Ref seems to be saying it was Harte as he's indicated a goal-kick.

28 min - Robson gets shoved over by Tomlin on the left-wing and it's a free-kick to United. Kav whips in a right-footed inswinging cross that almost finds Harte but is headed away, with Forbes completing the clearance to safety.

26 min - Kav finds Marshall in space on the right-wing. He beats his man and tries a right-foot cross that comes back off a defender before lofting a left-foot pass towards Price but he can't get over the ball and heads into the Waterworks End terrace.

23 min - Corner to United on the right. Kav takes it towards Keogh at the near post but it's headed away and comes as far as Horwood on the halfway line who tries to find Kav on the right but overhits his pass out of play for a throw-in.

21 min - Throw-in on the right from Keogh lands near Price and Marshall in the middle. Neither can find enough space to shoot and so it's played to Thirlwell on the edge of the box but he scuffs his shot and it dribbles wide of McCarthy's right-hand post. United starting to liven up a bit now.

20 min - Good ball from Thirlwell down the left finds Robson in acres of space. He gets to the byline and sends a cross towards the far post that McCarthy does well to claim with Marshall ready to nod the ball in.

17 min - Another uneventful five minute period. Just had another one of Richard's mazy runs after a good bit of quick distribution from Collin but it led to nothing in the end.

12 min - A poor defensive header by Livesey gifts possession to Scott Davies and he sends Bodwitch away. He's forced a bit wide and has a left-foot shot that Collin parries well, with Clayton calmly passing the ball to safety.

10 min - Poor defending there by Yeovil as a communication mix-up between Caulker and McCarthy gives United a corner. Kav takes a right-footed inswinger from the left that sees a Yeovil defender head it out again as Livesey was waiting to nod it in. The next corner is a better one from Kav, finding Price but his header flies wide of the post.

7 min - Finally, a couple of chances! There's one at each end too. First falls to Yeovil's Sam Williams, but his left foot shot from the edge of the area goes straight at Livesey who hacks it away. Up the other end, Richard Keogh has the first of his charging runs forward at right-back and gets in a dangerous cross that flies across the six-yard box but no-one can get that all important touch.

4 min - Don't worry, there's not a technical problem - there's just been no action in the first few minutes!

1945 - United kick the game off, attacking the Waterworks End in the first-half.

1944 - There is another game before Wembley - away at Southend this weekend. Details on tickets for that game can be found by clicking here.

1943 - Tonight is of course, the last home game before the JPT Final at Wembley on the Sunday 28 March. There'll be lots of coverage before the game here on the official site so remember to keep an eye out for all the exclusives!

1942 - The two teams are now coming out for the pre-match stuff (line-ups, handshakes, photos... you know by now!). United are in the usual blue home kit, while Yeovil are wearing a black shirt with one green sleeve and black shorts. Bit of an odd combination.

1935 - Visitors Yeovil include one new signing in their starting line-up, with Reading midfielder Scott Davies making his first start after joining on-loan yesterday. Missing out is another loanee, Gavin Williams, who is suspended after getting sent-off on his debut at the weekend in the 4-0 win over Hartlepool.

1927 - So there's two changes to the starting line-up for United, with Tom Taiwo missing out due to suspension after his red card at the weekend and Kevan Hurst out with a knee injury. Their places are taken by club captain Paul Thirlwell and Ben Marshall. Coming onto the bench are Tom Aldred and Gary Madine, who has returned after his loan spell at Chesterfield.

1922 - Evening everyone and welcome to tonight's min by min report for the Leauge One fixture against Yeovil Town. Both teams have almost identical records as it stands, with the same number of wins, draws and defeats. Only The Glovers marginally better goal difference keeps thema head of The Blues, so any positive result for either side will see them move clear ahead. Full team news is in and can be found at the top of the page.
