A run of three consecutive home league matches reaches it's final game this evening as United take on Yeovil Town at Brunton Park in League One (7-45pm kick-off).

After two games in a row against promotion chasing opposition, The Glovers provide opponents that are currently in a very similar situation to United themselves.

The two teams are only seperate by goal difference, with the visitors being currently two better off than The Blues. Yeovil manager Terry Skiverton has impressed this season by steering his side to a comfortable mid-table position on a tigh budget, making good use of the loan market to bolster his squad during the campaign.

United know to their cost how good some of those loan signings are - when the two sides met back in October last year, with two of Yeovil's goals in their 3-1 win coming from a player on-loan from a Premier League side. After going into the break 2-0 down, Ian Harte's penalty on 54 minutes offered United a lifeline but they failed to take it on a disappointing afternoon in Somerset and will be hoping for a much better performance this evening at Brunton Park

The two sides have met on 9 occasions, with United winning 3, Yeovil 5 and one game ending in a draw.

United will be wearing blue shirts, white shorts and white socks this evening. To get the latest on the kit drama's of United kitman Andy Hall, you can follow him on twitter at twitter.com/cufckit

PRE-MATCH COMMENTS

Greg Abbott

United manager Greg Abbott, speaking to the media ahead of this evening's game said:

"With the performance on Saturday we have now proved that we can compete with the biggest and the best.

"We have beaten Leeds, Norwich and teams like that, and now also Colchester who play a different style of football, and we have competed with them. We're not a million miles away from where we want to be and what we now want to do is continue to build and try to put ourselves up into that top echelon of this division.

"We wanted it to be an exciting season and we think we've honoured that. There's still plenty of twists and turns to come in what's left of the season and that's a good thing, I think.

"I don't really look back at the game with Yeovil down at their place too much. Once you start thinking that way you can come unstuck. I would like to show everybody that we have improved since that game, because our first half down there was poor.

"We didn't get the shape of the back four right following the injury to David Raven, but we think we've done that now. We can look forward to a game against a team who are around the same place as us in the table, and we will be going into it to get a victory. But that's the same for every game."

A full video interview with Greg will be available to subscribers on United Player later.

UNITED TEAM NEWS

United will be forced to make at least one change due to suspension for this evening's game.

Tom Taiwo

Midfielder Tom Taiwo begins a two-match suspension for the visit of Yeovil after picking up a red-card against Colchester at the weekend. As it was his second sending off of the season, it entails a two-game rather than one-game ban. His absence could see a return to the starting XI for club captain Paul Thirlwell, who has been on the bench for the last four games.

Ben Marshall celebrates his goal

Winger Kevan Hurst had to be substituted early in the second half against Colchester after jarring his knee. He will be assessed ahead of the game before a decision is made, with on-loan Stoke City winger Ben Marshall ready to deputise if necessary.

Scott Dobie is still recovering from the knock he picked up against Millwall and could return at the weekend against Southend. Fellow forward Darryl Duffy continues to sit out with a groin injury.

Still out with long term injuries are Andy Cook (foot) and David Raven (hip), although both are nearing a return to first team training. Also out injured is Lenny Pidgeley, who is recovering from a broken hand injury picked up last month and Joe Anyinsah, who is recovering from his stomach operation. Unavailable due to being out on-loan are Gary Madine (Chesterfield) and Michael Burns (Stafford Rangers).

YEOVIL TOWN TEAM NEWS

The Glovers will be without one of their loan stars this evening through suspension while another has returned to his parent club with immediate effect.

Ryan Mason

Midfielder Ryan Mason has been recalled to Premier League side Tottentham Hotspur after making 29 appearances and scoring 6 goals for Terry Skiverton's side. Two of those goals came against United back in October and he also earned a call-up to the England U-19 side during his time at Huish Park.

Unavailable due to suspension will be Gavin Williams, who was sent-off in the 4-0 win over Hartlepool United at the weekend. It was Williams' first game back at the club after returning on-loan from Bristol City, with the Welshman also scoring the second goal.

Scott Davies

To cover those absences, Skiverton has moved quickly to sign Reading midfielder Scott Davies on a months loan. The 22 year old has just returned to the Madjeski Stadium after a loan spell at another League One club, Wycombe Wanderers. he goes straight into the squad to face United.

Skiverton is also hoping to bring in a central defender on-loan but looks unlikely to complete any deal in time to face The Blues.

REF WATCH

Referee Tony Bates

The referee for this evening's game will be Tony Bates from Staffordshire.

He last took charge of a United game earlier this season when Bradford City were the visitors to Brunton Park in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Northern Area semi-final. United ran out comfortable winners that evening with a 3-0 victory coming courtesy of goals from Richard Keogh, Scott Dobie and a wonder strike from Matty Robson. Two players were caution that evening, with Matthew Clarke being booked and Simon Ramsden being sent-off after two first-half yellow cards.

Taking up assistant referee duties will be Ross Joyce and Lee Metcalfe, with Stephen Smith in the fourth official role.
