THE CROWD WERE FANTASTIC

Posted on: Tue 16 Mar 2010

It was another barnstorming performance from Richard Keogh this weekend as United came from behind to beat Colchester 2-1 at Brunton Park. We caught up with Richard after the game for his reaction to the result.

He said: "We've got through a tough ninety minutes this afternoon and got what we deserved from it.

"There's may a little bit of justice in the result today as we played really well down at their place and were outdone in the end by a goal that looked like it might be offside.

"They are a decent side that have done well this season and to come from behind when down to ten men and beat a side pushing for promotion is a fantastic result.

"I was baffled by the original decision to book me. I really cannot understand how on earth the ref could get me and Tom Taiwo mixed up. He did change his mind of course but then he told me and Danny Livesey that he'd got me "out of jail", but that clearly wasn't the case as we were the ones who got him off the hook as he'd got the decision totally wrong.

"I feel a bit sorry for Tom. The second one was maybe a silly tackle but at the end of the day, he's only made two tackles all game and maybe the ref could have been a bit more leniant and given him a quick talking to.

"But then you could argue that he's already on a booking and he's taking a big risk making that tackle and hasn't given the ref much of a choice. But we coped superbly, you couldn't really tell which team had eleven men and we made sure we kept the pressure on them for the whole game.

"Our response to going behind was perfect. Their goal was a bit lucky, Ben's clearance has landed perfectly for him after a ricochet and he's taken an easy chance. But we got the quick response and Jason's done well on the byline and fed it to Ben to finish it off and then we've gone on to get the winner.

"Jason's claiming that goal but to be honest I think it was a bit of an own-goal, but we'll let him have it! He had a really good debut, winning flick-ons and showing he had good feet too. He's made a good impression since he came in and I'm sure he'll make a big difference to the team until the end of the season.

"I thought the crowd were fantastic today. They really got behind us, especially after we went down to ten men and it gave us that push to a little bit extra to get the win.

"Yeovil will be another tough game on Tuesday night. They're on the same point as us and a fairly similar side but we've got to take the game to them and hopefully with the crowd behind us again we can get another three points."
