United defender Richard Keogh put in another excellent display against Gillingham last Saturday as he helped the defence towards a twelfth clean sheet of the season that took them onto the 40 point mark.
He said: "I think it was important to show everyone that the bad run of games that we had is behind us.
"I think we have to admit that everyone was a bit edgy for the first ten or fifteen minutes, but we settled after that and we deserved the win.
"We did a lot of work on the fact that we expected them to come with three strikers and we were ready for that. We're very pleased with the result.
"Obviously Hartey's free kick helped us to kick on and I think the whole ground knew that was going in from the moment he stepped up to take it. We were able to relax after that, and the penalty made things even better for us.
"I keep going on the runs, and the one where I cut inside is where I probably should have shot with my left foot. All I am trying to do is affect the game as much as I can and I have a good understanding with Clayton and Hurst on the right hand side. If I do go forward they cover for me and it gives me the licence to do that.
"I was in front of the incident with the elbow, but a lot of the lads saw it and they feel that it should have been a red card. I think the referee has missed that one, but we reacted in the best way by getting the win.
"We got the clean sheet as well and it's always positive when that happens. They didn't have too many chances and we looked very solid, so we have to be happy with the performance overall.
"It means that we can keep looking up the table when we keep picking the points up, but we know that there is still plenty of hard work still to do."
