CARLISLE UNITED 1 (Anyinsah 90+3) HUDDERSFIELD TOWN 2 (Novak 6, Rhodes 56) FT
United - Collin, Keogh, Livesey, Harte, Murphy, Hurst (Marshall 63), Clayton, Thirlwell (Taiwo 63), Robson, Duffy, Dobie (Anyinsah 57). Subs - Pidgeley, Horwood, Bridge-Wilkinson, Kane.
Huddersfield - Smithies, Peltier, P Clarke, Roberts (Ecclestone 87), Kay, Heffernan, Rhodes, Pilkington, Novak, Drinkwater, Trotman. Subs - Eastwood, Collins, N Clarke, Robinson, T Clarke, Pearce.
2141 - That time wasting almost came back to haunt Huddersfield but they just about held on at the end there. To be honest, it'd have been very harsh on Huddersfield if United had got a point as they were by far the better side, despite some of their other antics. It's the long trip to Swindon on Saturday for United and I'll be back a week on Saturday for the Gillingham game, so join me then.
FULL-TIME - Carlisle United 1 Huddersfield Town 2
90+3 min - GOAL! Carlisle United 1 Huddersfield Town 2 - Surely not? A long free-kick from Clayton bobbles about before falling to Anyinsah, who smashes a low shot that creeps under Smithies' body.
90 min - There'll be a minimum of five minutes added time at the end of the game. No surprise really with a lot of stoppages and some time wasting from Smithies but not looking like it'll be enough time for United.
89 min - Anyinsah is tripped up by Clarke 40 yards out and it's a United free-kick. Harte lifts it into the box and Keogh gets on it but he can't get any direction on his header which goes out for a goal kick.
87 min - Good run by Marshall down the right results in a United corner on the right-wing. Clayton sends in a right-footed outswinger that finds Keogh but he heads well over the bar. Huddersfield make their first change, with Gary Roberts coming off for Nathan Eccleston.
83 min - Huddersfield are starting to take the mickey a bit with their time wasting, taking an age to take any sort of free-kick their given.
82 min - Off the ball incident while Huddersfield take an age to take their free-kick and both Peter Murphy and Anthony Pilkington are booked.
78 min - Joe Anyinsah is tripped up about 30 yards out and it's a United free-kick. Ian Harte tries a quick one that has Smithes scrambling but it flies just wide of his far post. Very close to getting one back there.
77 min - Pilkington takes the corner to the far post where Clarke rises highest but he heads wide of the far post.
76 min - United have a good attacking opportunity but lose possession far too easily and Huddersfield are 4 on 1 in the United half. Pilkington takes it himself before laying it off to Rhodes at the last second, who smashes towards goal and Collin makes a smart stop to put in behind for a corner.
74 min - Some odd refereeing there. Taiwo wins the ball in midfield and then dinks it through for Duffy, who sees his shot saved by Duffy. The parry comes towards the edge of the box where Drinkwater and Taiwo tangle for the ball, both falling over and it falls to Anyinsah who hammers it into the back of the net, but the ref's decided it was a foul by Taiwo. Looked a dodgy decision from up here.
69 min - Good bit of play by Marshall on the right sees him skip past Heffernan and put in a good cross but no-one's making a run to the edge of the box and Huddersfield get it clear.
65 min - Keogh takes the free-kick long into the Huddersfield box and Smithies claims at the second attempt under a challenge from Livesey. Smithies appears to be taking forever to take his kick then throws it out, claiming he's injured. He's not making himself popular with the United fans.
64 min - Terriers left-back Dean Heffernan goes through the back of Clayton and becomes the second player of the evening to be booked.
63 min - United make a double change, with Paul Thirlwell and Kevan Hurst coming off for Tom Taiwo and Ben Marshall. Both straight swaps I'd imagine.
61 min - Bit of a delay as Rhodes receives some treatment after going down a bit soft under a challenge from Harte. He's back on his feet now and play continues.
57 min - United now have the chance to make that change, as Scott Dobie comes off with what we're pressuming up in the press box is an injury, and Joe Anyinsah comes on in his place.
56 min - GOAL! Carlisle United 0 Huddersfield Town 2 - Too easy for the visitors. Roberts sends in a left-footed inswinger that finds Jordan Rhodes totally unmarked and he heads it into the back of the net.
55 min - Little bit of luck for Adam Collin there, after he makes a smart save to stop a Rhodes shot but the ball loops up and bounces off the crossbar and behind for a corner.
54 min - Scott Dobie looks like he's struggling out there after being accidentally tripped by a Huddersfield player after the ball had gone out of play. Joe Anyinsah appears to be getting ready to come on.
53 min - Robson's low cross is put behind by Trotman for a United corner. Hurst whips it in to the near post but it's well cleared away by Clarke.
52 min - Not a lot happened so far, though United are far more in the game than they were in the first half.
48 min - Clayton plays the ball forward where Dobie lays it off nicely for Duffy but he tries a first time shot from 25 yards that goes harmlessly wide of Smithies goal.
46 min - Tonight's attendance is 5,246.
2049 - Both teams now back out for the second half and it looks like there'll be no changes for either side at the start of the second period. Huddersfield get the second half underway.
2035 - Half-time at Brunton Park and Huddersfield go into the break deservedly in the lead, having dominated most of the chances. The Blues have struggled to contain the lively Gary Roberts, with Pilkington on the other wing also causing problems. There were a few signs of improvements in the last ten minutes of the half but I can imagine Greg Abbott will be expecting a lot better from his players in the second half. We'll be back with more soon.
HALF-TIME - Carlisle United 0 Huddersfield Town 1
45+2 min - Harte takes the free-kick long into the Huddersfield half where Livesey heads it down into the path of Duffy but Clarke intercepts and puts it out for a throw-in.
45+1 min - Foul by Danny Drinkwater as he leaves his foot in when Murphy clears the ball and he's the first player to be booked this evening. Free kick to United well inside their own half.
45 min - Good link up down the left between Murphy, Duffy and Robson sees the latter dig out a cross to the far post where Smithies does very well to claim the ball under pressure from Hurst. There will be a minimum of two minutes added time at the end of the first half.
42 min - So close to an equaliser for United. Duffy plays Dobie through one-on-one with Smithies, who makes a smart stop but it falls to Duffy who absolutely hammers the ball against the cross bar from the edge of the box and from the rebound Robson wins a corner. From that, there's a huge goalmouth scramble from which Huddersfield somehow escape and Drinkwater is through on goal, but Robson makes a great recovery to win the ball.
40 min - Robson smacks a cross off Peltier that loops out for a left-wing corner to United. Hurst whips in a right-footed inswinger into the six yard box but Smithes makes a clean catch to claim the ball.
38 min - Once again, a corner to Huddersfield, this time on the left. Pilkington goes over and sends in a right-footed inswinger that finds Clarke at the far post who heads wide, but for some reason the ref's given a corner on the other side, suggesting it may have come off Keogh. Roberts takes this one, sending it in where Harte inadvertedly flicks it on to Novak at the far post but his looping header lands on the roof of the net.
35 min - Keogh is tripped up and it's a free-kick to United 30 yards out. Harte steps up and whips in a cross that Murphy gets his head on but doesn't direct towards goal. Dobie recovers the ball and plays it back to Murphy but he tries to get it out of his feet and loses control of the ball, allowing Smithies to claim it easily.
33 min - Huddersfield are playing some good stuff but are also making the most of any tackle that goes in on them. Peltier this time goes down well after Murphy puts his leg out and wins a free kick on the right wing. Pilkington whips it in and and Kay gets on the end of it but heads high and wide of Collin's goal.
31 min - Harte plays the ball into a good area but no United players attacks it and as United try to regain possession, Huddersfield break down the left wing but Thirlwell gets in a good last ditch tackle near the edge of the United box.
30 min - Clarke goes through the back of Dobie to win a header and concedes a free-kick, about 40 yards out. Dobie's a big groggy after that and has to get some attention from Dolly. Harte is going to take the free-kick.
29 min - Hurst does well to win a corner off a Huddersfield player on the right-wing. He takes the corner himself, finding Dobie 8 yards out but he can't get over the ball and heads it high and wide of the far post.
27 min - United counter down the right after Thirlwell wins a loose ball in midfield. Hurst finds Keogh, who plays it to Duffy. He picks out Clayton who chips a ball towards the far post that Robson gets on but his header is a weak one and goes well wide.
25 min - First bit of good link-up play from United today sees Keogh chip the ball to Dobie on the edge of the box who brings it down with his knee for Duffy, but he scuffs it badly and the ball barely makes it back to Smithies in the Huddersfield goal.
21 min - Yet another corner to the visitors (I've lost count already) after Thirlwell blcoks Peltier's cross. Roberts cross it into the box but this time it's headed away by Murphy to the far touchline where Huddersfield recover the ball, with Pilkington getting to the byline and hitting a low cross that somehow, in a scramble of players, Collin stops before it can cross the line.
18 min - United go to sleep again as Huddersfield take another quick free kick but Murphy is alert to head out Roberts' cross. He takes the corner as well which finds the head of Peter Clarke but his header flies over the bar.
16 min - United finally break out of their own half and Clayton tries a lofted ball towards Duffy who's being pulled all over the place by Trotman but the ball falls to Robson who tries a left foot volley that sails over the bar. Lot of shouts for a penalty there but the ref wasn't having any of it.
14 min - Pilkington tries his luck with a superb curling effort that has Collin beaten but goes just wide of his far post. Would have been a beauty of a goal if that had gone in.
13 min - Foul by Murphy near the corner flag on Pilkington gives Huddersfield a free-kick. Roberts takes it to the edge of the area but the ref's blown his whistle and given United a free-kick after a Huddersfield player bundled over Keogh.
11 min - United just haven't turned up so far and Huddersfield have looked impressive, pinning The Blues inside their own half.
8 min - United have a free-kick in their own half and Harte cleverly chips it forward to Murphy. He whips in a cross that Thirlwell is beaten to in the air and it falls nicely for Clayton, but he can't get over the ball and sends his shot into the Waterworks End.
6 min - GOAL! Carlisle United 0 Huddersfield 1 - Huddersfield early pressure pays off as they take the lead. Robson loses possession in midfield and the ball loops over the top, Harte not able to get his head on it and Lee Novak sneaks in and puts it past Collin and into the empty net.
5 min - It's another corner to the visitors, on the right and Roberts is going over to take it. He takes it short and gets it back but this time his cross in is easily headed away by Paul Thirlwell at the far post.
4 min - Another corner for the visitors this time on the right byline and is taken short by Gary Roberts, who gets it back and whips in a cross that falls in the six yard box before being booted cleared by Danny Livesey.
3 min - Left byline corner to Huddersfield after Harte blocks a shot from 25 yards. Pilkington goes over and takes a right-footed inswinger that finds Jordan Rhodes in the six-yard box but he heads wide of the far post. Should have done a lot better there.
1946 - Looks like United will be kicking off this evening and they'll be attacking the Waterworks End in the first half. Duffy and Thirlwell get the game underway.
1944 - I've got a special guest reporter with me in the old hospital radio box, Luke Nicholson from Carlisle. He'll be keeping me correct and making sure I make no mistakes (a tough task for him then!)
1943 - The two teams are now out and doing the usual line-ups and handshakes, though Dunno has been caught out as he didn't have One Step Beyond ready yet!
1941 - Crowd looking similar to Saturday at the moment, bar a very decent following from Huddersfield Town, especially considering the logistical nightmare of getting to Cumbria from Yorkshire on a Tuesday night!
1940 - How odd... just had an alarm and "this is an emergency, please leave the building" message on the tannoy... but Dunno's just reassured the crowd as it's a false alarm! Just as well, as no-one was in a hurry to get out of the ground!
1936 - Those who followed the min by min report at the weekend may remember we were saying that it was Paul Thirlwell's 31st birthday that day too. Well last Tuesday was also his 100th appearance for the club, so it's fair to say it's been a pretty good week for the United captain!
1930 - Just one change for visitors Huddersfield from their side that drew 2-2 with Swindon Town at the weekend. On-loan Manchester United midfielder Danny Drinkwater comes into the starting line-up, with Michael Collins dropping to the bench.
1927 - So it's an unchanged line-up for United from the side that beat MK Dons at the weekend, with Peter Murphy keeping his place at left-back. Evan Horwood is fit again, but has to settle for a place among the substitutes.
1913 - Evening everyone and welcome to this evening's Minute by Minute report, as United look to build on the 5-0 hammering of MK Dons at the weekend with a second home win in succession against Huddersfield Town. Team news is in and the line-ups can be seen at the top of the page!
