Stoke City striker Ben Marshall has joined United for a one-month loan spell this afternoon as the January transfer window comes to a close.

Marshall, 18, joined the Potters from Crewe in July 2009 having progressed through the Railwaymen's impressive Youth system.

He has enjoyed loan spells with Cheltenham and Northampton so far this season scroing 4 goals in his combined 24 appearances.

Greg Abbott said: "He is one that is very highly rated and that we have been aware of for a while.

"He will give us some good cover, particularly with the news about Joe Anyinsah, and we are looking forward to working with him."
