NO PITCH INSPECTION PLANNED

Posted on: Thu 14 Jan 2010

Officials at Griffin Park have told Carlisle United Football Club that they are confident that Saturday's game against Brentford will go ahead and that no pitch inspection is planned at this stage.

As Cumbria feels the effects of another dusting of snow, the Brentford ground staff have ordered an industrial blotter, a machine that mops up standing water, as they continue to clear the pitch accompanied by an early morning downpour of rain.

With temperatures rising in the south as we speak, it looks like the Cumbrians will be playing their first League One fixture since 28 December on Saturday.

Manager Greg Abbott said: "There's nothing that can be done about the weather, but we are definitely looking forward to the game. It's good news that it looks like it will go ahead because the lads are ready for it. We've had some good training sessions at the start of the week, and now we can really build things up with the game against Brentford in mind."

We should have a further update on the state of play at Griffin Park later today or early tomorrow morning.
