YOU LIKE TO PUT ONE OVER

Posted on: Wed 02 Dec 2009

United winger Matt Robson was always going to enjoy going up against the club where he spent his formative years, but to get three points and a 'spectacular' goal into the bargain made things just that little bit more special.

He said: "You've got to look at it as a game of two halves. We were quite poor in the first half because we just couldn't get it going.

"We did have a few chances and there were some crosses into the box, but it wasn't really going for us. We got our goal and that gave us a lift and when we went in at half time we were feeling quite confident. With the way we can play we knew that we could turn it round."

"They got a really early goal and that put us right on the back foot," he admitted. "We went out there with the message to get at them right from the start, and we let ourselves down with that. It was a ball inside that was cut out and the next thing you know it's in the back of our net. It took about 20 minutes before we managed to pick ourselves up from that."

On his own goal, he said: "Of course I'm claiming it! It was over the line before it hit the keeper. All I was doing was to put the ball into an area and fortunately for me it went over his head and in."

"You always want to put one over your old team and I talked to a few of them before kick off. Everyone knows that you have a job to do and it was especially pleasing to beat them and to get a goal with all of my family there as well."

United Player subscribers can see a video interview with Matt Robson later today.
