United defender Peter Murphy earned a recall to the side for the 3-1 win over Norwich City at the weekend, playing in an unfamiliar midfield role. We spoke to him after the game to get his reaction on United getting through to the next round and the loan bid from Shrewsbury that was turned down last week.
"We're pretty delighted that we're through to the Third Round of the cup, even more so now I've realised it's the same day we were meant to be travelling down to play Exeter City!
"We started the game pretty well and Vincent's got a superb goal, I don't know how he managed to get anything on the end of that.
"It was disappointing to concede not long before half-time, I think their goal was the first time they'd really had a good passage of play, but we always knew they had that kind of quality in their side.
"Getting that early goal in the second-half was crucial and we never allowed them to get any sort of rhythm going. We took the game to them and ended up deservedly winning 3-1.
"Adam didn't have a lot to do in goal and that's down to how we played as a team. We kept our shape and put the pressure on them and forced them to play it back to their keeper a lot. I think he'll be pleased to not have much to do as he had a pretty busy night on Tuesday at MK Dons!
"The offer from Shrewsbury hasn't unsettled me at all. At the end of the day I've always just wanted to play football and if you're not playing you'd hope someone was interested in you. But it's the way football is, I've got a start today but the most important thing is that the team won and got through to the next round."
