BEES ASK ABOUT TAYLOR

Posted on: Mon 10 Aug 2009

League One new boys Brentford have renewed their interest in United winger Cleveland Taylor having asked questions about his availability ahead of their trip to Brunton Park last weekend.

Taylor, 25, submitted a transfer request during the summer and attracted interest from the Bees as they looked to seal a deal for the popular wide man.

Greg Abbott explained: "An enquiry has been lodged by Brentford at the club and that's something that we are all aware of.

"However, I have got to do what is right for my football club. I have got to protect the strength of the team and Cleveland played a part on Saturday. It wasn't his greatest game and it wasn't his worst game, but it was typical of him because it was full of commitment.

"If we can do something with that then we will look at it, but it isn't about Cleveland in a situation like this. The club comes first on this one. He will move when I am ready for him to move, so he has to work behind me a little bit on this."

On the Danny Graham tribunal outcome and subsequent move for a striker, he told us: "I haven't been given a set amount, but the board have told me to go out and try and make something happen.

"That's what I've been working on for the last few days, and I won't rest until I have made a signing that gives everyone a boost. A new signing would lift the fans and will lift the squad, and it will take a little bit of the pressure off the strikers who are already here, because a lot of the talk has been about them scoring goals recently."

"It must be hard for them because, if you put yourself in their position, it does add a little bit of pressure their way. I've had to talk to them and tell them that we do believe in what they are doing, but I've also had to explain that we are looking for someone to come and play along side them. That work will continue until we succeed."
