CARLISLE UNITED 1 (Harte 16 pen) BRENTFORD 3 (Weston 12, 47 Wood, 64)
1655: After a decent first-half, United didn't get out of the blocks in the second-half and falling behind to an early goal was a big blow. Brentford always looked a threat and dealt with most of United's set-pieces well, with Cort a real towering presence. It's Oldham in the Carling Cup next for the Blues on Tuesday night and I'll be back again for that (from the start this time hopefully). Keep an eye on the site this weekend for all the reaction to today's game.
FULL-TIME - Carlisle United 1 Brentford 3
93 min: The game's beginning to slow down now, as Brentford look to secure the 3 points. Cleveland tries a right-foot volley 20 yards out but it goes well wide.
91 min: United win a throw on the right. Kav takes a long throw but a free-kick is given? No idea what for, a bizarre decision!
90 min: Raven has a dig from 30 yards but his left-foot shot ends up in the Warwick End. That change will now be made, but it's David Hunt coming off, not Foster. A minimum of four minutes added time!
88 min: Brentford win a corner on the left-wing, but before that it's another change for the Bees. Danny Foster comes off and is replaced by Karleigh Osbourne. Actually, they haven't yet. Bit cheeky that, Foster got to the touchline then was told to go back on!
87 min: Keogh advances with the ball from defence and lays it off for Kav. The ball bobbles up and he hits it but it's a tame effort and easy for Price.
85 min: Kav sends Robson away down the left with a great pass. He advances to the byline then hits a low cross but it's too hard and Dobie can't get there in time despite a good effort.
82 min: A change for either side now, with Thirlwell off for United and Marc Bridge-Wilkinson coming on. For Brentford, Weston comes off and Steve Kabba comes on.
78 min: Cleveland gets away down the right and Dickson pulls him back so it's a free-kick to United. Harte takes it and cuts it back low to Kav but he scuffs his shot well wide.
77 min: United win a throw-in by the corner flag. Kav takes another long one but it fails to beat the man at the near post. But from the clearance, Weston fouls Keogh and United win a free-kick 30 yards out. It's taken short and Kav whips in a right-wing cross that Keogh almost gets on the end of. At the other end, Brentford break forward and Saunders is one-on-one with Pidgeley but he stays big and makes a great save.
75 min: United make their second change of the afternoon, with Joe Anyinsah coming off and Gary Madine coming on.
74 min: Should have been a fourth for Brentford. Raven misses his challenge on Weston. The Brentford man skips away down the left and sends a low cross that goes past Pidgeley but Saunders totally misses the ball with an open goal.
70 min: Dobie wins a flick-on that eventually comes to Cleveland. He sets up Raven on the right and his cross is deflected out for a corner. Kav a right-footed outswinger that bobbles about before Cort boots it out for another corner. The second corner into the middle is headed up into the air and Price comes to claim.
69 min: Kav gives away a free-kick on the left-wing. It's Saunders who whips in a right-footed cross straight into the arms of Pidgeley.
67 min: United are still playing some good football and probably having more possession but Brentford have just been a lot more clinical infront of goal so far.
65 min: Dobie almost has a chance to get an instant reply for United, but his low right-foot shot is well held by Price.
64 min: GOAL! Carlisle United 1 Brentford 3 - Wood takes this one and after it bobbles about for a bit, United are given a free-kick. It's a poor kick from United though and Brentford win the ball. Wood advances and sends in a left-footed shot that takes a wicked deflection off a United defender and totally decieves Pidgeley, going in off the far post.
63 min: A very long and deep ball to the far post is headed out for a corner by Raven. Could have let it go but there was no shout so did the right thing. Saunders goes over and takes a right-footed inswinger that comes off Keogh and goes out for another corner on the right-wing.
61 min: Attendance this afternoon is 6367. Kav takes a left-wing corner that falls to Dobie who turns and smashes a shot in but it's well blocked and goes for another corner. Kav takes it again, but this time Price very confidently claims the ball.
60 min: After successive throw-ins near the corner flag from Raven, Kav lines up a long throw that goes into the six-yard box and Anyinsah swings a leg at it but misses the ball.
59 min: Robson is hauled down on the left-wing near the edge of the area and it's a free-kick to United. Harte takes it but it's straight into the wall.
58 min: Good play again by Cleveland on the right wins United another corner. Again an outswinger by Kav but it's well cleared by that man Cort.
56 min: United make their first change of the afternoon, with Tom Taiwo coming off and Scott Dobie coming on. Change of formation for United then, with Kav dropping back into midfield and Dobie moving upfront with Anyinsah.
55 min: Livesey is forced to put the ball out for a corner under pressure from a Brentford attacker. Wood goes across to take it on the right but his left-footed inswinger is easily cleared.
53 min: Taylor does well on the right again and it's another corner to United. Kav's outswinger is aimed for Harte but Cort is back defending and heads away well.
49 min: Cleveland causes problems on the right and is brought down by Dickson. Harte takes the free-kick and sends in a left-footed inswinger... so close! Harte went for a big gap at the near post and Foster just sneaked in to head it out for a corner!
47 min: GOAL! Carlisle United 1 Brentford 2 - Poor start for United. A throw-in from the right finds its way into the box where Weston turns his man and sends in a left-foot shot that goes straight through Pidgeley and into the net. The ex-Notts County man is now on a hat-trick on his debut for the Bees.
46 min: No sign of any change for either side so far.
1605: Both teams are now back out and Brentford will get us back underway.
1601: United played some good stuff in that first-half and threatened well on the flanks. They'll be kicking towards the Warwick Road End in the first-half and will be looking to start a bit better than they did in the first period!
1549 - Good half of football, both teams playing some decent stuff with United just edging it. But the Bees still look a threat on the break, with Woods and Saunders on the wing causing problems and Cort holding it up well. I'll back with a bit of the usual banter in a few minutes!
HALF-TIME - Carlisle United 1 Brentford 1
47 min: Left-wing cross from Kav is met by a flying and leaping Taylor but he can't keep the header down. What a belter that would have been.
46 min: Another cross from Taylor is headed out for a corner on the left-wing. Kav takes it again and his deep corner is headed back across goal by Keogh where Anyinsah flicks it onto the cross bar. Meanwhile, Keogh is getting some treatment after picking up a knock from that flick-on.
45 min: Taylor does well on the right to get a corner after his cross is deflected out by Dickson. Kav goes over again to take it, and his right-footed outswinger is well headed away at the near post. One minute added time at the end of the first-half.
42 min: First booking of the season for a United player, and it's Tom Taiwo who gets it for persistent fouling. Looked very harsh from up here, especially as Anyinsah appeared to be fouled well before that.
39 min: Raven does well to dig out a left-foot cross on the right that Bennett puts out for a corner. Kav goes over to take it, sending in a right-footed outswinger which finds Harte on the penalty spot, but his left-foot volley flies just over the bar.
35 min: Brentford win a corner on the right after a good tackle from Keogh. It's whipped into the middle where Pidgeley comes and punches, getting very good distance on his clearance.
33 min: Brentford misses a terrific chance to go 2-1 up. United are exposes down the right and Saunders plays the ball for the charging Wood. He has a left-foot shot from the edge of the box but he drills it just wide of Pidgeley's left-hand post.
32 min: Harte does take it, and it's not one of his better efforts, sailing well over the bar and into the empty Waterworks End.
31 min: Anyinsah is brought down on the right-wing and it's a free-kick for United. Looks like Harte's gonna have a crack here.
28 min: Sloppy play in midfield by United gifts the ball to Brentford and Saunders sends a low side-footed shot at goal but Pidgeley saves well.
27 min: A long throw-in from Wood sees Keogh head the ball out for a corner. Wood takes the corner to the far post where Cort gets on it but he heads the ball well over the bar.
25 min: Good play on the left by Kav sends Robson away. He gets to the byline and chips in a cross that Dickson has to head out for a corner at the far post. Kav goes to take the corner on the right, sending in an outswinger that Keogh can't quite get on. It comes back to Kav who lays it off for Taylor who whips it in but Livesey can't direct his header towards goal.
23 min: Anyinsah breaks away down the left and closes in on goal. He tries to slide it in to Kav but it's well blocked by the defender. Kav takes the corner from the left, sending it high to the far post where Keogh rises and heads towards goal but Price does well to hold on to it under pressure from Anyinsah.
19 min: So close to a second! Cleveland shows some great trickery on the right to beat two men and send in a low cross that finds Robson at the far post but his driven shot is well blocked by the defender. The resulting corner from Kav is whipped in to the far post but Harte and Livesey get in the way of each other and it goes out for a goal kick.
17 min: Well it's been a pretty exciting start here at Brunton Park this afternoon. United have had most the possession but Brentford look threatening on the break, with Cort always a willing target.
16 min: GOAL! Carlisle United 1 Brentford 1 - Harte steps up very confidently and hits it into the top left-hand corner. No chance for the keeper, although he did go the right way.
16 min: Penalty to United! Handball by a Brentford defender after Kav's cross. Harte's going to take it.
13 min: While there's a very quick breather, here's the two teams and subs:
United - Pidgeley, Raven, Livesey, Keogh, Harte, Taylor, Thirlwell, Taiwo, Robson, Kavanagh, Anyinsah. Subs - Collin, Horwood, Bridge-Wilkinson, Murphy, Dobie, Kane, Madine.
Bees - Price, O'Connor, Dickson, Phillips, Bennett, Saunders, Cort, Weston, Hunt, Foster, Wood. Subs - Kabba, Bull, Osborne, Ferrell, Franks, Williams.
12 min: United go straight up the other end and win a corner. It's whipped in and Livesey is charging in to get on the ball but doesn't make it. Looks like he was brought down but the referee Mr Haywood is having nothing of it.
11 min: GOAL! Carlisle United 1 Brentford 0 - Thirlwell brings down Cort about 30 yards out on the right-wing. It's whipped in by Sam Saunders but Kav heads it out for a corner. Saunders takes the resulting corner on the left-wing, whipping it in right-footed and it's headed into the top corner by Brentford debutant Myles Weston. Nothing Pidgeley could really do there.
9 min: Kav's brought down by the right-wing corner flag and Harte comes across to take the free-kick. He whips it in to the near post but it's headed away by a Brentford defender.
6 min: Apologies for the delay in getting this afternoon's minute by minute report up everyone, but a few technical (and traffic!) problems have meant a delay. But we're ready to roll now, and I'll give you the two teams in just a sec!
