AN UNEXPECTED WELCOME

Posted on: Wed 08 Jul 2009

New 'keeper Lenny Pidgeley found himself surrounded by a group of excited young fans at Brunton Park on Wednesday afternoon ... when all he thought he'd be doing was popping along to the ground to finalise his contract details.

On his way down the tunnel to get his welcome photograph taken he bumped into the kids from the Bowness on Solway After School Club who were on a tour of the ground under the guidance of Football in the Community officer John Halpin.

Richie Bowman, a long time fan of United, was helping out with the school but he was just as keen to say hello to the Blues' new stopper.

Although a little taken aback by the attention, Lenny was more than happy to join in with the fun as the girls and boys became proud owners of the title of the first to welcome the new signing into the club.
