STRIKER NO GO

Posted on: Fri 03 Jul 2009

Carlisle United transfer target Scott Vernon has decided not to make the move to Brunton Park after talks over a potential swap deal with keeper Ben Williams broke down today.

Vernon, 25, was a key part of the negotiations that would have seen him come to Carlisle, but he informed U's boss Paul Lambert this afternoon that he did not want to make the move.

Greg Abbott said: "Scott has decided that he wants to stay with Colchester at the moment, so he won't be coming up here to join us.

"He has told his people down there that he wants to try and fight for his place. He hadn't initially asked for a transfer, so he feels that he wants to stay there at this moment in time."
