United winger Cleveland Taylor is due back for pre-season training next Wednesday, despite the fact that he submitted a formal transfer request mid-way through the closed season.
Taylor, 25, swept the boards at the end-of-season awards ceremony following his committed displays for the Cumbrians, but cited personal reasons when he made his request for a move.
Manager Greg Abbott said: "We've spoken to two or three clubs about Cleveland, in terms of possibly exchanging him for another player, but things are tight around the leagues at the moment.
"There hasn't been an offer for him, so it has been quiet on that front. I did get a message to speak to his agent on Wednesday, so we might have something new to report on that soon."
"If he does come back to us then I would advise him to come out and tell the fans what it is that has been upsetting him," he added.
"I feel that if he lets everyone know what it is that has affected him then it can only help matters. By letting everyone know that he wants to concentrate on his football and give his best, and by being open about it, I think everyone would understand what his problems were.
However, ultimately it's up to Cleveland to make the decision on what it is he wants to do. I can only give him my advice."
