Former Hartlepool United winger Matt Robson has signed a two-year deal with United this afternoon that keeps him at Brunton Park until the summer of 2011.

Robson, 24, joined 'Pools as a trainee and has made over 150 appearances, scoring ten goals in his seven seasons in the north-east.

He scored twice in his 38 games last season and can play at left back and at the heart of the midfield if required.

Greg Abbott said: "Matt comes with pace and energy and he is an important part of the jigsaw for us.

"He is a genuine left sided player who play a big part, and I'm looking forward to working with him for the next couple of years."

Full reaction from the manager and Matt Robson to follow.
