Defender David Raven signed a one-year contract late on Friday afternoon that keeps him at Brunton Park until the summer of 2010.

The right back, 24, had a verbal agreement in place on his 12-month deal already but submitted the paperwork to confirm the signature yesterday.

Raven made 46 appearances in all competitions last season and has made over 125 in total having joined the Cumbrians in the summer of 2006.

Greg Abbott said: "As I said last week, I'm delighted that David will be with us again next season.

"He's a solid player with a good reading of the game, and it gives us good strength in that position."
