WINGER A DOUBT

Posted on: Fri 10 Apr 2009

United winger Joe Anyinsah left the field of play shortly before half time in the Oldham game and the early indications are that he will not be available for the Easter Monday trip to Huddersfield.

Anyinsah, 24, felt his hamstring tighten a week ago during the away game at Leicester but came through the end-of-week training sessions with no problems. However, the problem returned to haunt him today, resulting in his 42nd minute substitution.

Greg Abbott said: "We think Joe will be struggling.

"It doesn't look good for us, because hamstring injuries tend to take more than two days to recover. At the moment I wouldn't have thought that he will be available for Monday, but he hasn't been assessed properly by our medical people yet so we still have to wait and see."

"That's just the way it is for us at the moment," he told us. "You tend to get things like this happening to you when you are at the wrong end of the table, but we will have eleven players out there on Monday giving it everything they have, I can guarantee that. Our target was for four points from the weekend, and it just means that we have to do it the hard way with today's result."
