CARLISLE UNITED 1 (Bridges 44) OLDHAM ATHLETIC 1 (Eardley 89) FT
1652: What an unbelievably frustrating afternoon. United dominated for huge periods of that second-half with the extra man but just couldn't find that killer touch. Oldham punished Greg Abbott's side with a late strike from a soft free-kick. United have a couple of days to recover before the trip to Huddersfield on Monday which could prove a vital match. I'll be back on Thursday at Workington for the Cumberland Cup semi-final tie.
FULL-TIME - Carlisle United 1 Oldham Athletic 1
92 min: Morris tries a shot from 30 yards but it's straight into Supple's arms.
90 minute: There'll be a minimum of three minutes time added on.
89 min: GOAL! Carlisle United 1 Oldham Athletic 1 (Eardley) That one is definitely a foul by Scott, as he catches an Oldham midfielder 30 yards out. Neal Eardley takes a low free-kick that flies into the bottom corner of the net.
87 min: Scott Dobie is penalised for being elbowed by Gregan. Scott looks more than a little baffled by that one.
85 min: Raven lays it to Cleveland down the right who sends in a fantastic low cross but Dobie can't catch up for it and it goes out for a goal-kick on the far side.
84 min: Update from Bristol - Rovers are 1-0 up against Northampton. As it stands, United are five points clear of the bottom four.
83 min: Lumsdon gives away a free-kick after a clash of heads on the halfway line. Gregan takes it long but it goes straight to Horwood who heads it away easily.
81 min: A deep cross from Horwood finds Cleveland at the far post who lays it off for Bridges but his shot is blocked excellently by Gregan. The resulting corner comes to nothing.
80 min: Bridges wins a free-kick after being fouled by Whitaker. Morris takes it, sending it into the box where Keogh's chasing it but can't quite reach the ball and it goes straight through to Supple.
78 min: Both sides make their final changes of the afternoon, with Kieran Lee replacing Paul Black for the visitors and Chris Lumsdon coming on for Graham Kavanagh for United.
77 min: Patient build-up from Oldham sees the ball eventually find Eardley who sends in a shot that's deflected just wide of Williams' post. The corner is a dangerous one but everyone misses it and it comes to the far post where United can break. That break eventually comes to Taylor on the right whose first cross is blocked, then he smashes the ball against the bar, with Dobie hitting his rebound straight against a defender.
74 min: Very dangerous cross into the middle by Eardley, but no-one getsenough of a touch on the end of it and it goes out for a goal-kick at the far post.
72 min: United make their second change, with Danny Graham, who's put in a good shift this afternoon, coming off for Scott Dobie.
71 min: Jeff Smith breaks down the left and sendes in a cross that's deflected over by Gregan. Jazzy Jeff takes it but it's well claimed by Supple. It's now started to absolutely pour down at Brunton Park, could be an interesting last 20 minutes. Meanwhile, Graham beats the offside trap again, laying it off for Bridges who sends a superb shot just wide of the far post, with Supple well beaten.
69 min: Oldham make their second change of the afternoon, taking off Mr Popular aka Steve Kabba and bringing on Lewis Alessandra. Despite his antics, he's looked a threat for the visitors.
68 min: United break down the left and Graham holds it up before laying it off to Bridges. He lofts a cross to the far post where Cleveland rises but can't get over the bar and heads it well wide.
67 min: Referee Mr Wright gives a free-kick to Oldham for... well, nothing! It's taken quickly by Oldham and eventually comes to the edge of the box where a midfielder smashes it well over the bar.
65 min: A long hopeful punt by Oldham gets through and Chris Taylor smashes in a shot at the near post that's pushed wide by Williams. Whitaker takes a low corner that's well cleared by Graham.
63 min: Oldham try to play the offside trap but Black plays Graham miles onside. He advances down the left and into the area before cutting it back to Bridges but his shot is blocked on the line and Cleveland can't get on to the rebound.
61 min: Bridges sends in a dangerous low cross after being layed off by Cleveland but Graham can only get a slight touch as he stretches for the ball and it goes wide.
60 min: Gregan totally misses a long Horwood pass and Bridges is almost through but it bounces up and hits his hand and the ref gives a free-kick. Very unlucky there.
55 min: The free-kick is headed out for a corner by Kav. The corner's whipped in and bobbles about in the box but is eventually cleared, but falls to Eardley who sends a stinging shot just over Williams' bar.
54 min: Another booking for United, it's Graham Kavanagh this time for a foul on Chris Taylor. Meanwhile Oldham make their first change, with Stefan Stam coming on for Kevin Maher.
53 min: Keogh excellently intercepts a pass and plays it to Cleveland. Keogh's bursting down the right but he's not picked up. Instead he lays it to Bridges who sends in a delightful chip looking for Graham but Supple comes and claims it.
51 min: Good football from United sees Murphy sends Horwood away down the left. He lays it back to Bridges who does a one-two with Graham before curling a shot from the edge of the box that's comfortably saved by Supple.
48 min: Today's attendance is 6,635.
47 min: Oldham have reshuffled since the red-card, with youngster Paul Black moving from left-wing to left-back and Chris Taylor switching to the left-wing from a forward position.
1603: Oldham get the second-half underway. No changes for either side so far.
1550: Not the best of games so far but I doubt that Greg Abbott or the United fans at the game today are that bothered! No arguement with the decision for the penalty, Cleveland was clearly hauled down and was through on goal. Now it's up to the Blues to take advantage of that extra man advantage in the second-half. More from me shortly.
HALF-TIME - Carlisle United 1 Oldham Athletic 0
46 min: Bridges almost makes it 2-0. Cleveland, who is having a great impact already on the right, robs Black and breaks into the area. This time he's not caught and he plays it back to Bridges but he scuffs his shot wide. It was behind him but he could maybe have taken a touch. Encouraging stuff just before half-time.
45 min: There'll be a minimum three minutes of time added on before half-time. One thing we missed in the delay before the penalty was a yellow card to Rueben Hazell for dissent.
44 min: GOAL! Carlisle United 1 (Bridges) Oldham Athletic 0 - It's Michael Bridges who steps up and he waits for Supple to move and sends the ball low into the other corner. One-nil to United and a one man advantage.
42 min: That'll be Joe Anyinsah's last contribution of the afternoon, as he's coming off for Jeff Smith. Cleveland's moved to the rigth and he's straight away bursts down the right and is brought down in the box by Daniel Jones. Mr Wright has no choice but to give a penalty and sends off Jones!
40 min: Straight up the other end and Anyinsah breaks down the right and sends an early low shot that Supple saves well.
39 min: Lovely bit of trickery down the right by Oldham's Chris Taylor, who cuts inside and sends a left-foot shot just past Williams' upright.
38 min: A long flick is won by Graham but he picks up a knock. Play goes on and Bridges sends a right-foot volley wide of Supple's goal. Neil Dalton is now on to look at Graham's injury.
36 min: Steve Kabba is not making himself any friends in Cumbria this afternoon. He chases down Keogh after a poor pass to him but takes a bit of a dive. The ref's fallen for it and Keogh picks up the first booking of the afternoon.
35 min: Another long-throw from Morris causes chaos in the Oldham box. This time Cleveland gets a brilliant flick on, it bounces in the six yard box and Anyinsah is blocked off excellently by Gregan at the far post.
29 min: Good build-up by United sees the ball come to Cleveland on the left but his low cross is deflected out for a corner. Kav takes a right-footed inswinger that Murphy almost flicks with his left-boot at the near post but it's cleared to safety.
26 min: A very clever free-kick. Kav and Bridges lay it off for Murph, but he plays it back to Kav who hits a shot that's deflected wide for a corner. Morris whips the corner in but an Oldham defender deflects it away to the edge of the box where Horwood unleashes a powerful shot but it goes well wide.
25 min: Bridges goes on a mazy run, misses his kick and still gets through but then he's fouled just outside the box. Bridges, Kav and Murphy are all standing over this one.
22 min: Graham wins a free-kick on the left after being blocked off. Morris takes it again, this time lofting the ball in but it misses everyone and Supple again has an easy save.
17 min: Good build-up down the right sees Raven lay the ball of for Kav. He takes his time and sends a cross in but Cleveland can only get a slight flick on the ball and it goes well wide.
16 min: Quick update from the Bristol Rovers v Northampton game - it's still 0-0 at the Memorial Stadium.
15 min: Joe Anyinsah gives away a foul on Taylor then kicks the ball away. Mr Wright has a quiet word but doesn't produce a yellow card for the former Preston man. Maher takes the free-kick into the middle but Raven flicks it in the air and Williams catches it comfortably. Meanwhile, Taylor breaks up the other end from Williams' kick and lays it off for Horwood but Anyinsah is penalised for a push in the middle.
12 min: Ian Morris takes a superb long throw into the six-yard box where Murphy makes a connection, but his flicks goes agonisingly wide of the far post. Graham was chasing to try and get on the end of it but just couldn't quite get there.
11 min: Apart from that Chris Taylor that hit the post, it's been a pretty uneventful first ten minutes or so, unlike recent United games that have started a bit frantically.
9 mins: Hazell gives away a foul after bringing down Bridges just inside the Oldham half. Morris takes the free-kick long but it goes straight into the hands of Oldham keeper Shane Supple.
3 mins: Almost an opener for the visitors. Steve Kabba beats Murphy for pace on the right and sends in a terrific cross that Taylor heads straight against the post with Williams stranded. The Oldham forward probably should have done better.
1500: United get the game underway, kicking towards the Waterworks End in the first-half.
1456: The two teams are now coming out to One Step Beyond on the tannoy. Oldham are wearing what can only be described as a "loud" hi-vis coloured away shirt. Danny Graham is captain once again for the Blues, with ex-Preston man Sean Gregan wearing the armband for the visitors.
1454: Brunton Park is filling up nicely now, looks like it could be a bit of an increase on recent gates. The lack of Premier League football taking place today might be a factor in that, as well as United's well-earned point at the Walkers Stadium last weekend.
1451: Oldham recently replaced John Sheridan with Joe Royle, taking charge at Boundary Park for the second time. His first spell in charge coincided with one of the greatest periods in the clubs history but his return hasn't been quite as successful as he's still waiting for his first win. Lets hope it doesn't come at United's expense today.
1445: There's a number of other fixtures taking place in League One this afternoon. The most interesting one for United fans is at the Memorial Stadium, where Bristol Rovers face struggles Northampton Town. A win for the Pirates this afternoon would do United just nicely. I'll try and keep you up to date with the score in that one.
1442: Today's referee is Mr Kevin Wright of Cambridgeshire. The last time he took charge of a United game was the 3-1 FA Cup defeat at Swindon in the 2006/2007 season. Before that, he took charge of the 0-0 draw at Stockport the previous season as United won the League Two title. His assistants today are Darren Bond and Richard Clark, with Peter Wright taking up fourth official duties.
1433: So it's the same starting XI for United that battled to earn a point at Leicester last weekend. The only change from that game at the Walkers Stadium is Jeff Smith coming on to the bench in place of Michael Liddle. For the visitors, former Gretna keeper Craig Fleming is on the bench and YTS product Paul Black, who recently spent time on-loan at Barrow, makes his first start and fellow youngster Ryan Brooke is on the bench for the first time.
1429: The teamsheets are in, so here's today's two line-ups:
United - Williams, Raven, Keogh, Murphy, Horwood, Anyinsah, Kavanagh, Morris, Taylor, Bridges, Graham. Subs - Kane, Lumsdon, Dobie, Rothery, J Smith.
Oldham - Supple, Eardley, Whitaker, Allott, Kabba, Hazell, Maher, Gregan, Taylor, Jones, Black. Subs - Stam, Fleming, Lee, Alessandra, Brooke.
1427: Afternoon folks and welcome to today's Minute by Minute report. Oldham Athletic are the visitors to Brunton Park for this Good Friday clash. The visitors will be looking for one last push for the lay-offs after faltering in the last couple of months, whilst United will be looking to pull further away from the relegation zone. Full teams news up next!
