CARLISLE UNITED 1 (Dobie 78) LEYTON ORIENT 3 (Daniels 29, McGleish 34, Church 50) FT
2139: Not the best of evenings for the Blues, one that Greg Abbott will want to forget very quickly. He'll get the chance to do that this weekend against Scunthorpe United at Brunton Park and I'll be back then to bring you more MBM action.
FULL-TIME - Carlisle United 1 Leyton Orient 3
90 mins: There'll be four minutes of added time. Possibly not enough but United keep pushing forward.
89 mins: Good play down the left by Neal, who whips in a cross low to the near post where Graham's just beaten to it by the defender but it loops up and Raven gets a head on it but heads it against another defender. The resulting corner causes a bit of chaos but the Orient defence eventually clear it.
88 mins: After a short burst the game is starting to peter out as Orient look to run down the clock at every possible opportunity. A mix-up in the Orient defence sees the goalkeeper stranded outside his box but Kav's touch falls to Madine and he tries to take a touch but the Orient defenders swamp around him quickly to avert the danger.
86 mins: Orient win a corner after Purches hits the ball against Keogh. They don't look to put it in the box, taking the short one before winning a throw-in.
83 mins: United break down the left and Neal sends a cross in which is cleared but it comes straight back to him. His second cross is flicked back by Graham to Kav, but the ball won't sit up nicely for him and his effort goes well over.
81 mins: Two good chances for United! Graham does brillaintly to muscle the ball off Mkandawire and is through but his powerful left-foot shot is well stopped by Jones. United pick it up again and Neal jinks on the left and sends a cross in to the far post but Dobie's stretching for it and Jones claims it fairly comfortably.
80 mins: United have a bit of a spring in their step all of a sudden. Another goal could make it squeaky bum time for the visitors. At the other end, Gray picks it up 20 yards out but his shot is dreadful, causing more of a threat to the corner flag than Williams' goal.
78 mins: GOAL! Carlisle United 1 (Dobie) Leyton Orient 3 - Surely not? That one's come out of nothing. Graham sees his initial shot blocked and it falls to Dobie on the edge of the box and he picks his spot nicely and puts it past Jones for his second goal of the season.
76 mins: Orient make their first change, with Scott McGleish coming off for Wayne Gray.
72 mins: United win a free-kick just inside the Orient half and send all the big men up. Kav takes it and it hits the only player in the wall who's barely 5 yards away. Unbelievably, the ref waves play on and Orient break but United eventually get back and deal with it.
71 mins: Final throw of the dice from Greg Abbott, as he takes off Joe Anyinsah and brings on Gary Madine. Looks like Scott Dobie will now switch to the right -wing.
70 mins: United win a free-kick 30 yards out which Neal takes and it's clipped over off an Orient defender's head. Kav takes the corner but his right-footed outswinger is defender well by the visitors.
68 mins: Paul Terry is giving far too much space in the middle of the park and he sends in a curling shot that forces Williams into a save, which he holds on to.
66 mins: Kane gives away a free-kick on the right byline. Demetriou whips in the free-kick and an Orient man gets a flick on but it's cleared away by the United defence.
62 mins: United make their second change, with Scott Dobie coming on for Gareth Taylor in what looks like a straight swap with Scott going upfront with Graham.
61 mins: Demetriou takes a corner from the left and Williams comes to claim it but he's fouled and the ref blows for a free-kick.
59 mins: Demetriou gets a cross in to the far post and McGleish peels off his marker but is leaning back and heads it high and wide of Williams' goal.
56 mins: The game has got very scrappy and neither side is keeping hold of the ball for longer than a handful of passes. Anyinsah skips past a few challenges and into the box and falls over but the ref waves away the protests for a penalty.
52 mins: Tonight's attendance is 4,536. Kav is clear in space on the left and sends in a cross to the near post but Jones comes and confidently claims it.
50 mins: CARLISLE UNITED 0 LEYTON ORIENT 3 (Church) - Nightmare start to the second-half for United. Thornton gets away down the right wing and has all the time in the world to pick out Simon Church, who scuffs his shot but it bounces over the diving Williams. Another scrappy goal that the defence will know could have been avoided.
46 min: Early free-kick for United as Demetriou catches Kane with a high boot. It's knocked long by Richard Keogh but no-one gets on the end of it and it's a goal-kick.
2049: United are definitely making a change, it's going to be Danny Graham coming on and Cleveland Taylor coming off. Looks like Joe Anyinsah will be moving to the right wing in his place. Orient are out as well now and it'll be the Blues getting us underway in this second half.
2047: United are now out on the pitch but the visitors are still yet to appear. Looks like United will be making a change, with Danny Graham getting himself ready to come on.
2045: Actually, on a second look they're all out there, Madine was simply not with the main group of players but is now.
2044: Looking at the subs warming up, either Gary Madine or Scott Dobie aren't out warming up so could there be a change in the offing from Abbott? I'll let you know as soon as I know!
2033: The half-time whistle goes and United will so far be regretting not taking some of those early chances. Orient's own opportunities have mostly been scrappy ones but they've been a lot more clinical than the Blues. Greg Abbott will be looking to gee the lads up at half-time and might just remind them about the MK Dons game back in January. More from me shortly.
HALF-TIME - Carlisle United 0 Leyton Orient 2
45 mins: Fourth official has incidated there will be a minimum of one minute time added on.
44 mins: Cleveland picks up 30 yards out and has a shot but he scuffs it a few yards wide of Jones' goal.
43 mins: Nearly another for the visitors. Great trickery on the right by Jimmy Smith, who knocks a cross in that Church stretches to hit a volley just over Williams' bar from 18 yards.
40 mins: Neal pounces on a loose ball just inside the Orient half and gets it under control before going on a mazy run. Unfortunately his shot doesn't quite match that run in quality as he drags it well wide of Jones' goal.
36 mins: United nearly pull one back. Liddle's initial cross from the left is blocked but his second one is whipped into the middle and G Taylor pulls off his man but can only head it down into the ground and it bounces over the bar.
34 mins: GOAL! Carlisle United 0 Leyton Orient 2 (McGleish) - Far too easy for the visitors. The ball is played out wide right to Jimmy Smith. He turns back onto his left foot and whips in a cross and somehow, Scott McGleish is left totally unmarked from 4 yards out and he taps the ball into the net. Again, nothing Williams can do but the defence will be kicking themselves about the marking on that one.
30 mins: United have been the better team so far but yet again it's another case of not taking any chances and being punished for it. Still plenty of time to get something out of this game though!
29 mins: GOAL! Carlisle United 0 Leyton Orient 1 (Daniels) - Orient take the leader and it's a scrappy goal. Charlie Daniels originally wins a corner with a deflected shot looping over the bar. The corner is whipped in and it's bobbling about the box and eventually falls to Daniels who smashes it hard and low past Ben Williams who has no chance.
27 mins: Cleveland turns his man inside out on the right and hits a low ball across the six yard box that misses everyone but falls to Neal. He knocks it back into the middle where Anyinsah gets just ahead of the ball and can't steer it in, allowing an Orient defender to hack it clear.
24 mins: Thornton, who doesn't look shy of having a dig at goal, lines up a shot from distance but it goes well wide of Williams' goal.
22 mins: Good attacking play by Liddle as he drives through the middle of the park with the ball before hitting his cross off an Orient defender to win a corner. Kav takes a great inswinging corner that lands at the far post and is just about cleared by an Orient defender.
20 mins: Looks like a clear elbow on Neal as he goes for an aerial challenge but the ref gives nothing. It falls to Church on the edge of the box and he turns but his left-foot shot is well saved again by Williams.
19 mins: Thornton takes it but it hits Cleveland in the wall and is cleared. The linesman then misses about 4 players offside and an Thornton gets another shot away but it takes a deflection and Williams claims it easily.
18 mins: Paul Thirlwell's a bit unlucky there as the ball bounces up and hits his hand and the ref gives a free-kick. It's about 20 yards out just to the right of the D and there's a few players standing over the ball thinking of taking it.
16 mins: Gone a bit scrappy now after a fairly rapid start. Anyinsah tries to bustle through the defence after receiving the ball from Neal but he's blocked out and Jones claims the ball.
9 mins: Good play by Liddle down the left. It looks like he's got it caught in his feet but still manages to dig out a cross to the far post which Cleveland lays off for Kav but his placed shot is stopped by Orient stopper Jamie Jones. Good save from the man whose name sounds a bit like the Clash record.
8 mins: United win a defensive free-kick and the ref wants a word with Orient forward Simon Church. The on-loan Reading man has been a little too physical with his aerial challenges so far and will have to be careful from now on.
7 mins: It's worth noting that tonight is G Taylor's home debut. He's looked pretty sharp so far and his first touch and hold-up play look very good.
6 mins: To avoid any confusion, i'll refer to Gareth Taylor as "G Taylor" and Cleveland Taylor as either "C Taylor" or more likely "Cleveland". We seem to have a habit in recent years of signing two players with the same surname!
5 mins: Almost the opener for United. Some great hold-up play by G Taylor lays it off to Thirlwell who plays it wide to Neal. His deep cross to the far post is headed back across by an Orient defender and Anyinsah smashes it goalward but it's blocked on the line and put out for a corner. The resulting corner from Kav is deep to the far post but well cleared by Orient.
1 min: Early attack down the right for Orient and Stephen Purches smacks a cross against Lewis Neal to win a corner. Charlie Daniels takes a lofted left-footed corner to the penalty spot but it's easily headed away by United. The ball's knocked back in to the box but Ben Williams comes out and confidently claims it.
1947: Orient get the game underway and the visitors will be kicking towards the Warwick Road End in the first-half.
1945: Tonight's referee is David Webb from County Durham. It's the second time this season he's taken charge of a United game at Brunton Park, the previous game being the 3-1 victory over Brighton back in November.
1943: Both teams are now coming out for the usual line-ups and someone's just switched on the sprinkler nearest to them! Luckily it's just the stuffed Olga the Fox in the centre circle!
1941: Poor Steve Dunn on the tannoy, he's having a bit of a nightmare with the names of some of these Orient players tonight (Mkandawire being the most challenging of the lot). I can just imagine Derek Lacey's face when he looked at that teamsheet tonight too!
1935: Time for some more plugging. Tom Aldred's done his latest blog for the League Football Education website, writing about his experience with the Scotland U-19 side and facing the press for the first time. Check it out by clicking here and leave a comment if you've got the time!
1928: Bit of breaking news from Brunton Park here tonight, Gavin Rothery has agreed a deal that will keep him at Brunton Park until the end of the season. The former Leeds youngster has impressed Greg Abbott during his trial spell and month long contract with some good performances in the Reserves and now has the opportunity to try and earn a longer deal with a little bit less pressure on him.
1925: Orient don't have a great record up at Brunton Park, having suffered a few hidings down the years. One of those was just seven years ago when Roddy Collins' side claimed a 6-1 victory against the O's. The hero that day was Ian Stevens, who grabbed a hat-trick, just weeks after returning to the team after half a season in the wilderness. Stevo was still playing football in the pyramid system until a couple of years ago, turning out for Bacup Borough.
1917: The visitors include Paul Terry, brother of Chelsea and England captain John. They also feature some exciting players including former Sunderland midfielder Sean Thornton, a player who hasn't quite lived up to his potential throughout his career. J J Melligan, a player who has often been a scourge to United at several clubs over the years, is on the bench.
1914: A very positive line-up, including the five subs from Greg Abbott. Although sub goalkeeper Chris Howarth returns after a spell out injured, the other four on the bench are three forwards and a winger! In the starting XI, Peter Murphy misses out due to the injury he picked up at Yeovil on Saturday, with Tony Kane coming in at right-back and David Raven moving to central defence, a position he thrived in at the start of last season.
1911: Tonight's line-ups are as follows:
United - Williams, Kane, Keogh, Raven, Liddle, C Taylor, Thirlwell, Kavanagh, Neal, G Taylor, Anyinsah. Subs - Howarth, Madine, Jeff Smith, Dobie, Graham.
Orient - Jones, Purches, Mkandawire, Thornton, Terry, Demetriou, Daniels, James Smith, Spence, McGleish, Church. Subs - Morris, Saah, Melligan, Gray, Morgan.
1907: Evening everyone and welcome to this evening's big clash against Leyton Orient at Brunton Park. It's a huge game for both sides, with Orient looking to continue their revival under Geraint Williams and move away from the relegation zone, while United are hoping to make it four games unbeaten on the back of Saturday's 1-1 draw against Yeovil. Teamsheets have just arrived so we'll have both line-ups on this page shortly!
