Experienced Doncaster Rovers forward Gareth Taylor has joined United for a one-month loan spell this afternoon.
Taylor joined Rovers in March last year and has played 18 games for the Championship side this season, with his last appearance in the 1-1 draw with Norwich at the end of January.
He started his career with Southampton and has over 500 senior appearances to his name, including spells at Bristol Rovers, Palace, Sheff Utd, Man City, Port Vale and Burnley.
Greg Abbott said: "He's the kind of player that we need to bring in because we have been getting the ball in to the box quite a lot lately, and he will bring a physical presence in to that area.
"He's terrific in the air and he has experience, and I'm sure that we will see him getting on the end of stuff for us. Hopefully he will come here and enjoy himself and score us a few goals.
"He's had games in the Championship this season and he is coming here with a real appetite to play. The important thing is that he is the type of player that we think we need, and we're looking forward to working with him."
