CARLISLE UNITED RESERVES 1 (Dobie 56)
MANCHESTER CITY RESERVES 4 (Redshaw 7, 45, 59, 77)

1552: United worked hard this afternoon but were outdone by a cracking wee player in Jack Redshaw. His four goals and all-round quality of play would cause problems to League One defences, nevermind Reserve League level. Despite the scoreline, United did create some chances and will be disappointed not to have worked City's keeper a lot harder. I'll be back on Saturday afternoon for the Min by Min report against Stockport County in League One so log on to the official site at around 2pm to follow coverage of the game.

FULL-TIME - Carlisle United Reserves 1 (Dobie 56) Manchester City Reserves 4 (Redshaw 7, 45, 59, 77)

90 mins: First booking of the game goes to City's Sean Tse who brings down Madine 25 yards from goal. The free-kick is driven straight at the wall by Bridges and it falls to Lakeland on the right but he slices his shot wide of the Hartley's goal.

89 mins: Yet again Redshaw runs at the United defence and his pace and tricky causes problems but he's stopped in the area by a great Blake tackle.

88 mins: Redshaw shows his trickery again and is brought down about 20 yards from goal. He takes the free-kick himself and just curls it over the angle of post and bar.

85 mins: United are putting some pressure on City but are looking vunerable to the counter from City, who are using Redshaw and his strike-partner Guidetti at every opportunity. Dobie has a shot from 20 yards that's deflected wide for a corner. The corner's whipped in but is well cleared by the City defence.

77 mins: GOAL! Carlisle United 1 Manchester City 4 (Redshaw) - Another goal for City and it's that lad Redshaw again. He picks it up just inside the United half and advances towards the United goal before unleashing a stunning 25-yard shot which gives Mitchell no chance at all. Who needs Kaka? City look like they have a star in the making in young Jack Redshaw.

63 mins: Almost a fourth for Redshaw, who scored that many in the reverse fixture earlier this season. He picks up the ball on the left and with some clever footwork cuts inside and curls a great shot just wide of Mitchell's post.

59 mins: GOAL! Carlisle United 1 Manchester City 3 (Redshaw hat-trick) - United go close to an equaliser as Madine is played through but he can't get the ball under control and both he and Bridges are crowded otu of the ball. Almost straight away the ball is hit upfield and Redshaw is played through on goal. He shoots and Mitchell gets a hand to it but he can't quite stop it going in and the pint-sized forward claims a well deserved hat-trick.

57 mins: Just after the goal United make their first change of the afternoon as goalkeeper Chris Howarth comes off with what looks like an injury and he's replaced by Alex Mitchell.

56 mins: GOAL! Carlisle United 1 (Dobie) - A ball down the middle catches the City defence asleep and Dobie gets in just before the keeper to nick the ball past him and he has an easy task of rolling the ball into the empty net.

55 mins: A chance at either end in the space of a minute. Great play by Rothery down the left sees him run away from the City right-back and get to the byline where he cuts the ball back across an open goal but no-one's there to tap in to the net. At the other end, a great through ball finds Guidetti who spots Howarth off his line and tries the lob but it's well wide.

52 mins: Good passing play in midfield by City and it falls to Guidetti who turns and smashes his shot from 20 yards well over the bar.

48 mins: Second half is underway and it's almost a quick equaliser. Bridges holds the ball up and lays it down the left for Rothery who sends in a cross. It's only half cleared and Madine smashes a shot in but it hits Dobie who can't get out of the way in time. A City defender eventually clears it to safety.

1449: Close game so far and the only difference between the two teams is the excellent Redshaw. He must be only about 5 foot tall but he's pacy and tricky with a great finish on him. United will have to keep him quiet in the second-half as he'll be looking to bag the matchball with a third goal. For the Blues, Rothery has impressed on the left with some good wing-play and Blake has done well behind him.

HALF-TIME - Carlisle United 0 Manchester City 2

45+1 mins: GOAL! Carlisle United 0 Manchester City 2 (Redshaw) - The ball's bobbling about in midfield and it falls to Redshaw on the edge of the centre circle in the United half. He runs at the defence before smashing a shot past Howarth from the edge of the area. Great finish by the little striker who's now on a hat-trick and proving a real nuisance for the United defence.

43 mins: Grant Smith goes down with an injury and the ref stops play. AFter a minute or so of treatment it looks like he's ok to continue again at the centre of United's defence.

36 mins: City forward John Guidetti runs at the United defence and gets a shot away but Howarth gets down low to make a comfortable save. Quite even so far, with Redshaw being the difference between the two sides. He's only a pint-sized little forward but he's looked a terrific player so far.

31 mins: A long ball into the box by Blake is headed out by a City defender. It falls to Bridges 20 yards out and he sends a rasping half-volley just over the bar.

28 mins: Rothery battles for the ball on the left and it bounces up and looks like it might have hit his hand but the ref waves play on. He gets to the byline and sends in a great cross which Dobie gets on the end of but it's well saved by Hartley.

25 mins: Dobie picks up the ball deep in his own half and flicks it over the City left-winger. He then goes on a long run right along the right touchline before cutting inside and heading for the corner of the area where City's left-back Carter catches up with him to make an inch perfect tackle as the Workington-born forward is about to pull the trigger.

21 mins: Gary Madine receives the ball on the edge of the box, makes himself some space then shoots but it's blocked and goes for a corner. The corner's taken by Burns who whips it into the near post where a City defender heads it to the edge of the box. It lands to Lumsdon who hits a lot drive that hits a United player and falls to Aldred who hooks it back across the area to Smith who has time and space but can't get the ball out of his feet and his shot is easily saved by the City keeper Hartley.

14 mins - Redshaw opened the scoring for City after being played through and sending a delightful chip over Howarth and into the net from the edge of the area. Dobie almost equalised for United just a short while ago but after a great run, chipped the ball over the diving keeper and just wide of the far post.
